Too Low?
If he made the runway/landing area he wasnt too low.
If he did not make the runway/landing area he was too low.
Joking apart was he in a glider/sailplane or powered a/c? He was commited to land so if in a glider the cicuit would be adjusted to ensure an arrival on the landing area, no good flying a normal circuit and landing short.
With regard to Mazda he was obviously a jolly fellow, who enjoyed a laugh.
Did you say he was American?
Happy landings!!!!!
Missing missiles
Were the missing missiles deposited on top of some spitfires in an Aussy mine shaft?
A good thermal
Come on chaps thats not how we won the empire!! He is obviously pulling hard to keep in a tight thermal.
Happy memories for all who took the winch in a Barge, however there was much consternation on occasions when an aero-tow was performed by a new Tuggy who did not realise the effect that 55knots in the climb had on the control forces in the barge/brick!! We had a couple of T21 owners who demanded a climb out of 50knots in the Chippy tug, this being interestingly close to the stall. No prob if the T21 P1 was on the ball, but as the old, not so bold Tuggy would say get it wrong push the rope!!
Happy landings (At H-B)
Steve was one good old boy, a true enthusiast who did it because he loved the aircraft, not because he could make a few quid!!!!
Happy landings matey.
HaveQuick1,
What is the code then? Or is it your little secret?
I have not heard of any racing at Wittering.
Snowbird.
Perhaps the White Waltham P1 is Ace of the base! Rather him/her than me.
Happy landings!!!
Luftwaffe F4F Bruntingthorpe April/May 2008

DHC-1 Screen
About 14 years ago i purchased a front screen for one of our Chippys at Hus Bos. It was from a guy near Norton Barracks south of Worcester. I cant remember any details but it was good enough to fly! He made them!!!! Its still flying.
Joyful release
Lets hope the new coalition finds funds for proper protection for the boys on the ground and enough parafin to keep the flying machines airborne, god speed Gordon better late than never!!!!
