As this item would show there is no real value to be placed on bravery. It is priceless beyond doubt. God bless all who it is bestowed upon.

I was at Speyer yesterday. Loads of WW2 kit including relics. Not that much modern stuff that I was looking for. If you are up for a couple of days away I can recommend the Hull to Rotterdam ferry. Decent 12 hr crossing nice dinner then breakfast before the 300 mile drive south.
Speyer is a lovely old town which has two superb museums which would take a couple of days on their own. Google Speyer technik museum for details.
My thoughts are If its worth having its worth looking for. I went, but bought nothing. Still well worth the effort. Also en route you pass Nurmbergring?? And Hockenheim is very close to Speyer.

Power I am with you. The man was golden. We will hear no doubt in the near future more of his generosity. With regard to Charlies posts it would appear as we say in the black “He is a nit picking tripe hound” That’s why he is up near 9000 posts. And no Charlie there will be no reply from me to any bleating from you about my post.

    Cheers Power down the hatch!!

The two F4s at Cov have never been cared for by anyone with any sympathy. Wow we have 2 F4s more gate money. They are both patched up big style. One has been painted the other is still neglected. The patches were USAF BDR training but a museum should have somebody who could do a bit of metalwork. I could make the wreck cockpit look brand new, externaly.

What chance non. If they want it done with no patches proper job here I am!!!!!!!

Out of interest to us all has this comment on fb been verified? Or is it a modern myth. What a/c? Where? When? I doubt it is correct but if so it is of concern!!!

The total hours flying time in most mil a/c has nothing to do with the airframe hours, but fatigue life. I am not sure how it is calculated on the various types but the general way is straight and level 1=1hr. Start pulling G and it reduces by whatever factor. Perhaps half an hour of aeros flying time = one hour of FI (Fatigue Index) I am sure it is a variable for each a/c.

Not really! 37+86 F4F was chopped at nearly 7000hrs and one other that was a Bruntingthorpe had in excess of 7000hrs.

    Happy landings.

    Staffs Crash

HI Bit late in the day but take a look at this. On 17 August 1953 52 year old Air Vice-Marshal William Brook, the AOC of 3 Group, took off from RAF Coningsby in a Gloster Meteor, and crashed into a Dutch barn at Bradley, Staffordshire.

Is this between Stafford (South of) and Penkridge??

I now realise that having looked at the site that is the fount of all knowledge. The thing that concerns me is my degenerating memory and why I remembered it as such.

    Happy landings!!

Having watched the disposal system become what it is today from about 25 years ago when if anything was being disposed of it was all open and fair all I can say is WHY?????

Thirty years ago disposal sales were held every 3 months at RAF Stafford. View the kit then go to TElford on the day and bid!!

Airframes were notified when available and you gave a sealed bid.

I could not say a word now about Masonic corruption but hey ho!!!!

Do you think the current crop of the usual crew are Masons???????

I think this comment will be gone in double quick time.
