    FrP: The Government deceived Sweden

The Norwegian parliament is about to discuss the fighter purchase since they got the final word.

Not that it really matters at all but this is what the 2nd largest parliamentarian party has to say.

    babelfished for kp

    http://www.dagbladet.no/2009/05/26/nyheter/innenriks/jagerfly/frp/6401564/

Frp is not satisfied with the government’s treatment of the Swedes.

Frp believe the government has deceived the Swedes

Will send the fighter tender back to collect a new study.

(Dagbladet): FRP, with Carl I. Hagen of the stylus, requiring that the government of the new basis for studying the decision to select the U.S. Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) instead of the Swedish JAS Gripen as the new American fighter. The party says the Swedes are a good idea in tow by the government in the process, writes Klassekampen today.

    – We show here that the government fooled the Swedes trill around by giving the Norwegian people the impression that it was a real bidding process, “said Carl I. Hagen to Klassekampen.

Hagen says that he has been asked to get involved in the matter of party chairman Siv Jensen.

    Long Dragkampen
After a long Dragkampen the rødgrønne government decided last year to invest in the JSF when the F-16-fly to be replaced. This in spite of the strong voices that claimed that the Saab JAS Gripen is a better investment in what is the largest state norske single investment ever.

Frp think the Swedes were led behind the light and led to believe they had a chance to win the tender right up against the government’s recommendation, even though they long ago were out by the Americans.

After the aircraft purchase plan, adopted by Parliament before the summer. The Defense Committee of Parliament will this week give its recommendation on the aircraft purchase – and it is in this opportunity Frp’s Committee fraction requires the proposal sent in return where it came from.

The government “is requested to present a far better, more thorough in the work and more responsible decisions for Parliament, where the two options are assessed against each other cost and militarily.”

    Disagreement on price
It has not lacked for murmuring about government decisions ranging from the criticism against the JSF may not cover the Norwegian military’s actual needs, that it is too expensive, has svirret in public.

Progress Party’s defense policy spokesman Per Ove Width has all along been a strong critic of the process and place the blame for the alleged fun game all the way back to the Bondevik II government, which entered into binding development cooperation with the U.S. Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer of the JSF.

In the time after the publication of the government’s decision Swedes claimed that Norwegian authorities have made a number of errors in the calculation basis for the costs of Gripen. The allegations have been proven back of the rødgrønne, who maintain that the best model is selected, at the best conditions.

It is well known that especially within the SV were strong forces that would have a Swedish than a U.S. aircraft. Yet the government accepted the decision of the party without dissent.

There’s also a webpoll on that article and it would seem only about 26% think their sitting socialist gov conducted a fair process.

Something the rest of the world already knew wasnt the case.

Really………….would you like to elaborate? Which, limitations are you referring too??? Also, what other competitors systems offer greater performance????

The entire sensorsuite and usable scan area for different applications is optimized for ground attack. Much like the entire aircraft.

    It’s a passive fighter.

2 of the 3 versions doesn’t even come with a onboard cannon.

Well, I would consider DAS as defensive and EOTS as offensive. Regardless, the EOTS while not providing 360 degree coverage. Neither, is any other system on the market. At least not at extended ranges……….

In short as a total package…………nothing can compare!;)

The whole A2A profile of F-35 is defensive. The EOTS extreme limitations makes it barely worth mentioning in any other context than heads on targeting. And that still with significant limitations. And the full EOTS/DAS system is many years away from service entry.

Yes… integration of the F136 into the F-35 should be an easy, cheap thing… .

What is your definition of cheap and easy? Regardless, it would be necessary to conducts loads of ground and flight tests before any customer would want to trust that configuration. You’re looking at a multi-year process. Engine performance data on F-35/F135 can’t at all be applied to F-35/F136.

Long enough to provide nice formation night flying and short enough to not blind the pilot when aircrafts pumping out multispectral flares…

LM said they would relaunch the marketing of F-35 after all criticism so we’re gonna see more of this type of propaganda. Finland got a 30-yr contract with Boeing so even if they asked for a poster of a jsf they wont go shopping jets anytime soon.

    SwAF speaks.

This week it became known that the JAS 39 Gripen of the newer C / D model in the coming years to replace the earlier A-and B-model does not have access to encrypted communications between the plan and command. The decision is not taken but could well become reality.

That does not mean that the Air Force at an incident communicates freely with anyone who wants to hear, such as the enemy. It will be back to the roots of secure communications.

    – There are compensatory methods, we can handle this, “says Torgny Hammar Field, Development Manager at the Air Force.

In practice this means that spoken communication, but without formal technical protection.

    – We will ensure that someone who can listen will not understand what we say, “says Torgny Hammar Field.

    – Such methods is also used in the NATO countries and others. They have the same problem, it is not always the system and aircraft is in line, “says Torgny Hammar Field.

However, it [The Air Force] has reacted against the encryption affair has come to be understood as “a new Jas-problem.” It is not, says Torgny Hammar Field.

    – It is not the functionality of the air machine that is the weak link, it’s systems on the ground and especially radio hills which sends and receives signals from the plan, “he says.

There is infrastructure work on land that is to suffer at a reprioritization. While the work on the Gripen, it is actually proceding quite well.

    – It rolls on just as planned, by international standards quite remarkably good, “says Torgny Hammar Field

It’s not accurate reporting… TIDLS is not the subject and will still be on future Gripens. That is for intraflight tactical datalinking between Gripens (etc) and doesn’t even need ground support as the jets work as relay stations. The allaged issue is about receiving encrypted voice/data orders from C2. TARAS (RA90) vs JTIDS (Link-16) issues. And these kind of issues is among the most sensitive around so there’s not gonna be any good clear answers….

Good that he replied and admit a bad headline. Self-criticism among reporters is about as rare as gold nuggets in my toilet seat… unfortunately.

Thanks for the link, but is this actually the system used aboard the Su-30MKM?

    No it’s not.

Avitronics, Saab’s South African subsidiary, provides the missile approach warning (MAWS 300) and laser warning systems. Russian manufacturers supply the DECM active jammer (SAP518M), UV-30MK CMDS, RWR (L-150-30 Pastel) and IRST (UOMZ OLS-30I), as well as the display processor, replacing the Su-30MKI’s locally manufactured processor.
