Hello Flyfree,
I would be interested in taking part in your project… But I have some questions:
-What sort of “writing” are you talking about? Short stories? real events?
-How long should one item be?
-and what would be the deadline for submitting one?
I have written a couple of texts that would need reworking if published but I could produce a brand new one as well, depending on the time constraint.
cheers,
Most impressive! Well done Martin! I’m glad we now know the truth about R. Weaver.
Martin, if you pop in to the GA forum, could you tell us more about your R. Weaver identity: you must have had some laughs 🙂 How did you get the idea and kept it going for so long?!!
Anyway, that’s the kind of project I’d like to do myself one day (entrepreneur, not R. Weaver!).
Cheers,
Steph
Cheers BlueRobin, it did! It’s no too far from Sywel then. I may visit a bit later this year.
I love these views Neal! Just where about is little Staughton? (Sorry for my poor geography)
Thanks again for your kind comments, I really appreciate them!
I wish I could relate some more adventures but unfortunately I won’t be able to fly for another 3 weeks 🙁 I might however organise a flight to the isles of Scilly, in April, for a wedding at which we are invited… so there mignt be something worth writing about then 😉
I have also another fictional short story about flying, that I would like to finish one day, and hopefully post on that forum.
Cheers!
Steve and DME, you’ve made my day! 🙂
Pic1 one was taken looking to the right of the aircraft… so I haven’t got one of what was in front. I might not have looked much better.
I think that by the time I entered the zone marked as 3300 feet on the map, I was at least at that height and before that, I could maintain 3200 feet in a 3100 zone. I’m not taking any pride in that and I’m not saying that it is my usual style to be only happy with MSA but I respected MSA.
I hope to be able to check soon enouhg, on a really clear day, what it looks like when you see it all.
Ah we love Afro Ninja
Hey,
I had forgotten about this thing. This clip has been round the Internet for a couple of months now and I did cry with laughters each time I saw it. It’s now known as “AfroNinja”.
I had a search for the identity of the guy and apparently he’s Martin Hicks, who’s filmography can be seen below:
Obviously in the video he’s got a big afro but I think it’s him. I have read some forum about the clip and apparently it was a casting for the new Nike ad and guess what, Afro Ninja didn’t get it but ended up with a nose bleed, not very happy:)
Now between some friends we often do the “hhah!” he does at the beginning showing his teeth, like “Just watch this man!”
A true gem of the web.
Thanks!
Thanks Mark9!
I have been off line during holidays, snowboarding in the French Alps… Brilliant!
I have seen a few little planes flying over. Though I did enjoy being on the mountain, I wish I had been in the aircraft as well: the weather was great, blue sky, perfect visibility. It must have been a stunning sight from up there…
Anybody flying around moutains? I would enjoy seeing a few pics.
Anyway, thanks for the birthday and Bonne Annee 2005 to everybody!!!
OK Steve, I’ll add my views on this one as well.
I did my night rating 2 years ago and absolutely loved it, for the experience, the wonderful views, the insight into intrument flying and also the fun of learning something new and challenging.
Tell me guys, didn’t it feel a bit like your first ever solo when doing your first solo circuit at night? It really gave me goose bumps… first to line up on a lit runway, just before opening the throttle but even more when on final, knowing that, despite having done it a few times with the instructor, the timing in the flaring part is very tricky to get right.
So yes, go for it! And on top of everything else it helped me keeping my hours up through the winter.
Unfortunately due to problems with the lighting system at Thruxton, I could not renew it last year but provided they repair it this year, I’d hope to have a few flights at night.
Best experiences at night: a solo nav around Solent CTA, Portsmouth, Isle of wight… and the first I took my girlfriend flying at night: we took off just after sunset and flew through the night, she was delighted.
Enjoy then!
(However the engine failure thing is a scary thing at night)
– Bugger! It looks that the scotch tape we put last time didn’t make it.
– Wanna try my gun this time?
Word for word, that’s the web site:
“Charles I was imprisoned here in 1648 before being taken to London to his trial and execution.
“The castle was modernised during the Napoleonic wars and again in the 1080’s when the enormous armoured wings were constructed. Two of the huge 38-ton guns installed in the 1970’s can still be viewed in their casemates.”
I agree with you Moggy, I don’t think somebody has proof-read the text 🙂
Thank you to keep a good look-out, not only at the window, but at our posts as well!
Hey Great pic, Melv! I’m looking forward to seeing the Kylie-magnet flying around Thruxton.
But, huh, you realise you’re still missing the spinning thing at the front, don’t you 😉
Steph
Thanks guys, that’s definitely the one, Hurst Castle.
from the web site: “Two of the huge 38-ton guns installed in the 1970’s can still be viewed in their casemates. “
I would not want to sail past these ones when they were in service 🙂
