There was a rumour about merging the two squadrons operating Block 30s into one, cannibalising the rest and use as an advanced training/reserve squadron. We’ll see about that.
Already done….

T-2 Buckeye is near retirement.
Any word on the subject of flight training by the defence press?
I wasn’t aware the AFDS had been in operational service so long. (…)
Have Greek Corsairs had any updates of any sort such as GPS navigation perhaps?
What type of AIM-9’s do they carry? I presume AIM-9P-4 or AIM-9P-5?
AFDS are equipping the more capable and modernized F-4E Phantom. Attack role for the A-7 in 2010 is more on papers than a reality.
But still this is an impressive static display with various weapons…

While testing a new gyroscope an A-7E crashed soon after take off. This led to a settlement agreement between HAF and the manufacturing company concerning compensation claims.
The new ALE-47 chaff/flare Countermeasure System was installed:

A-7H used AIM-9P4. When A-7E were delivered their AIM-9L pylons were removed to equip R/F-4E Phantom and since then they use AIM-9P4.
The Greek T/A-7 Corsair are used as LIFT and will be retired probably in 2012 along with the T-2 Buckeye. Pilot trainees will be sent abroad due to impending bankruptcy.
A low pass

According to Greek defence websites, the first two EMB-145H Erieye have been officially accepted by HAF. Perhaps we’ll see them for the first time with Greek roundels in a few days at Tanagra AB during HAF’s Annual Celebration (12-14 Sep. 2008)

Spitfire MkIXc LF MJ755
[…] It was examined by engineers of the non-profitable entity Shuttleworth Collection http://www.shuttleworth.org and technicians from the Personal Plane Services company. Both agreed that it was in an excellent condition and that after its restoration it will be the most authentic operational example of this type, since it will need the least amount of spare parts in relation to any other Spitfire that flies today. Personnel of the Hellenic Air Force Museum went to the UK where they visited entities that utilize historic aircrafts like The Fighter Collection company and acquired the necessary textbooks through the RAF Museum. […] In the first phase the objective is to be able to start the engine and taxi it on the runway. At a later stage it will be decided whether it is feasible to restore it to flying condition. […]

During a presentation of the ROLLS-ROYCE Merlin 66 engine restoration works, media reported that HAF officer told them that they are using only authentic spare parts of MJ755 itself; he probably meant refurbished parts but media misquoted him.

How come the first two Mirages are “506” and “507”?From what I know two-seater 505 was the first build aircraft…Does that mean that 505 is still conducting tests at Istres?Maybe the problems where not solved completely after all…
The two-seater #505 remains in France for additional testings with the new software SEG 52 which incorporates the use of SCALP-EG. The version SEG 51 (air-to-air capabilities) is currently in use. As far as I know, this is a standard procedure for many fighter jet procurements around the world.
If I remember correctly, HAF received its 1st F-16 Block 52+ around May in 2003 but one F-16 stayed in the US for almost 4 1/2 years to conduct various tests before it could be ready for delivery to Greece (not ‘could be delivered’ because it’s still not known whether this F-16 has flown to Greece). I believe I read that this particular F-16 was designated as Block 50+ since LM installed a GE engine. The tests was about Tape 2 software, weapons, ASPIS II (Advanced Self-Protection Integrated Suite)…

It’s in Greek and you’ll need a fast internet connection.
If it doesn’t work out with the ERJ-145’s, can Greece go back to using those Saab 340AEW&C’s?
Unofficially, the Chief of Air Force General Staff said to the press that the acceptance of the 1st EMB-145H AEW&C will be made early in 2008.
I thought the A-7H fleet had been retired with only the A-7E’s remaining….
Around April 2007, HAF decided not to fully retire the T/A-7H fleet but to place them on “long storage” status instead, maintaining them on flying condition.
