The problem being discussed seems to be rife these days. I continually notice bad spelling, punctuation and grammar in all manner of publications, even those that have apparently been proofread.
I also know however that my typing can be prone to errors (my fingers don’t seem to keep up these days), so I have taken steps to try and minimise the errors that creep in. For those using Internet Explorer, I can recommend IESpell (available from http://www.iespell.com) which adds a spell checker button to the tool bar near the top of the window. Its been designed specifically to check the contents of text input boxes on web pages, so perfect for a forum such as this!

NEAM
I went in May 2002, I don’t remember any Lancaster wreckage there though.
Some photos from the visit can be found at http://www.museum-explorer.org.uk/museum-explorer/site_details_return.php?museum=97#183

While I’d love to be able to produce decent examples of built plastic kits, I am simply not good enough at it to get the sort of results that I’d like, and I no longer have the time either! Thats one of the reasons that I do collect a few of the Corgi models.
So far I have all of the Mosquitos (not that strange for those who know me!) and a couple of others that I just like.

At the moment I have the following:
Mosquito the wooden wonder of Salisbury Hall by Robert Tomlin print.
‘The Muppet Show’ calendar.

Too many good books to have one definate favourtie – here are a few of them:
Ace of aces by E.C.R.Baker
Pursuit through darkened skies by Michael Allen
Mission Completed by Sir Basil Embry
John “Cats Eyes” Cunningham by John Golley
Night fighter by Rawnsley and Wright

I’ve tried a couple of the flat-bed scanners with adaptors with standard slides and negatives and they tend to produce perfectly respectable results if you want images for the web, or to produce 6×4/A4 images. For anything larger they were rather a waste of time.
I’d assumed that I’d have to buy one of the more expensive film specific scanners for the job at hand (yes, thats the correct one you are thinking of Eddie) as I’ve not been able to produce what I need with anything else so far.
Has anyone had good (or bad) experiences with any particular film scanner that they’d care to share?

Channel tides
I was always under the impression that the tides in the English Channel were rather ‘fierce’ and tended to quickly reduce an airframe left there for any length of time.
I know that the Typhoon was a much stronger airframe than many other aircraft of the period, but would it have survived this long?

Recommendations?
I’m looking for a film scanner to do film cells that are slightly larger than the standard 35mm – I’d also like to blow some of them up to A3 size or more.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a suitable film scanner for this?

The fuselage in the pictures should be on its way to the Windsor Mosquito Bomber Group shortly from what I understand. I believe that Glyn plans to build the next one out of flying grade materials…

Spitfire Ace
I’m getting the whole lot on tape for a mate – I’m sure that once he has watched it, if anyone still wants to see it, something can be arranged!

Right, found the map (eventually!) – if anyone else is interested in a copy, let me know!

Somewhere on my computer at home I believe that I have a scanned map of the area showing the location of the museum. PM me if you’d like a copy e-mailing.

These were taken at the IWM at Lambeth in 2000.

I’d have to agree with Neilly on this one – the Shacklady book on the Mosquito that he talks about is probably the worst book I have ever seen. I started to wonder a few pages into it whether it had actually been proofread at all! Not only are there glaring technical errors and completely incorrect image captions, but paragraphs simply stop in the middle of a sentence on more than one occasion!
I am thnking of sending a letter to the publishers to explain to them just how bad it is. Neilly, mail me off-board if you’d like to contribute to my rant^H^H^H^H letter.
