that poster, BTW got arrested for his trouble.

Are you sure coz that’s pretty bad! Do you have any more details?
If a guy who posted it got arrested, what about the spotters who continue their work even today?

China does’nt need a shortlegged, highly inferior aircraft like the Typhoon when it has the Su-30MKK.

its not just anyone that could get hold of photos of still secret military projects within china (or any other nation for that matter). most of these pics are either ‘leaked’ by employees at major weapons manufactures or the companies themselves to show how well they are doing behind the shroud of secrecy the chinese authorities put up. if this is case, then is probably in theirs (and ours if we still want more ‘leaked’ pics in the future) that they remian anonomus..

if i met them im not really sure if i should thank them or shout at them, cos its not good to tell others too much abt what ur military can do.

Leaks are probable but also a risk to both the employees and the company, if the Chinese are serious about keeping the project under wraps. Some other pics are clearly magazine scans. Others are simply those photographed by guys snooping around the airbase.

Hey sabreace, did you draw the pic of the dinosaur that you’re using as your avatar? If so, very nice…

Not at all. I just googled for it! 😀

CMF (Chinese Military Forum) – D – Full of idiots with no posters who are actually from the Chinese mainland or works with the PLA. Same building with the equally trashy Bharat Rakshak forum with servers actually located somewhere in Texas—how is that for authenticity? It’s only salvation is the leaks and translations from WMF and DS.

This is by far the stupidest, most asinine, embarrassing and idiotic BS to come from you yet. Yes, we all know that highly nationalist CMF was actually setup by BR and all posters are BR members. 😀

Well then, congrats to them for coming up with so many original pics and info. 😀

Have you realised that 95% of all chinese internet posters are not from the mainland either? Besides, how do you know if anyone works for the PLA or not?

CDF in contrast, has no real chinese origins and never concentrated on those topics.

CAC probably desperatly wants to make this jet public to show just how capable they are. and of course, i would imagine that the engineers and designers behind the J10 are getting pretty upset at the fact that the guys behind the FC-1 are getting superstar treatment by china’s media while they are getting no reconition for creating a better jet.

Once again, if CAC is doing that, it’s a big risk which one would’nt take. I saw the J-10 pic on CAC’s webpage way before the FC-1 flew so you can’t say that the engineers were feeling left out. If there’s an official government order to keep the project shrouded, it has failed miserably to the point that such an order might as well be lifted. They don’t have to give out the specs but can atleast acknowledge the project’s existance.

Me thinks that the J-10 started off as a very high risk project with several controvertial foreign connections which need to kept out of the spotlight at any cost.

About spotters, CAC and the Chinese government would have no doubt realised that not only are pics being posted on the net but also that some guys are taking a peek over the fences of their airbases. Yet the pics continue to flow in. This means that they are’nt so strict afterall. So not much secret!

the J10 is supposed to be secret, but its not in reality.

Right. This only means that crobato’s claims are false.

Just one question. If the J-10 is secret, why is/was a picture of it on Chengdu’s official page?

About the picture, are those official handouts or were they taken by a spotter? If the J-10 is secret and the spotter cannot be credited (he’s been doing a superb job) because of risk to himself, how can CAC use his pic?

Your LCA is a good start but nobody thinks it’s in the same class as the J10

Not really. From what’s known from both sides, it seems better tech wise. But then again, J-10 specs are unoffical. Aerodynamics wise, from a layman’s PoV, the J-10 seems better off though.

One thing I notice that some unknown guy(s) are doing a lot of work in getting scans and photos about chinese projects but go totally uncredited. It’s not fair to post and repost their work in 1000 forums without giving their names (and preferably background).

Just becuz some of the journalists are retards you should not consider every report as a hoax.

This is so typical of Pakistani journalists reporting military stuff. The military guys have a field day making fools of these guys

I’d probably agree with you if it were’nt for almost every paper or site reporting the exact same thing. Like I said, one journalist cannot be at fault here. From that janes report, even the author is totally clueless as to what the hell’s going on, if anything at all.

When a missile H-4 was tested after the indian astra test, it was mentioned as ‘out of sight’. Seemingly reliably, it was learnt from several other reports that the missile may have been a PL-8 variant with OFB capability, which makes sense.

Pakistanis should come up with some reliable facts and orbat instead of this laughable BS that makes no sense everytime. The H-x are probably powered glide bombs, types of which pakistan experimented with years ago.

2 Mirage 2000-5s won 40 virtual victories for the loss of 1 of its own. The MICA hit its target 75% of the time, according to the participants.

Just how did they calculate this?

Heres a poor quality pic of the smaller P106 design- co-production was discussed with Saab, and it looks a bit like a Gripen don’t you think?

Is’nt it bad enough that some in your government think that the Gripen is a better choice or is simply better than the Typhoon?

On a serious note, this only proves what a hoax those “bombs” are because the same kind of stuff was reported by multiple other papers, proving that the blame did’nt lie on the original reporter.

Now, how are they gonna find these invisible bombs to load them up in the first place? 😀

Thanks SD-10 for posting that long, detailed and for once, reliable article. I see that the range is more or less the R-77’s unlike what was previously rumored.

Why of course, it will force the Indians into buying the more advanced versions of the R-77.

They’re buying it anyway. Let’s not forget that Pakistan is not only waiting for a chinese seeker but also a chinese engine on the carrier aircraft.

The F-16XL looks futuristic even by today’s standards. How would it have compared with a Mirage-2000?
