I really miss the Starfighter – if only we could get one over to the Uk for a couple of shows one summer, doubt the CAA would allow it and the cost would be rather high but it would be nice.

Cool photos by the way 🙂

“You can’t have a conversation as you can’t hear anything and the house absolutely rattles – the Hunter is an obsolete jet and has no hush kits.”

Could Delta jets not claim that the flights by Delta jets were relating to “storage, repair and maintenance.”

The Hunters and the other Delta Jets aircraft often fly to an Airshow from Kemble then back again at a later time or date, so in effect they are being stored and maintained at Kemble and simply flying from Kemble when they are needed at another loaction, also when making local flights could it not be claimed that flights like these are needed in order to keep the aircraft in full working order, ie a maintance flight ?

Anyway im not sure about the flying schools and all that but, one wonders how much cash and jobs etc, Kemble makes the local council and local area, the regular events bring in loads of people to local campsites, hotels etc these people also spend money in the local area, Kemble has full time staff who live and therefore pay tax, and spend money in the local area, does the council want to lose all that ?

Yes something does need to be done but the point is what, at one time XM603 was worked on regularly and was ground run, as far as I know the last run was in August 2002 and work on the aircraft has slowly come to a stop over the last 4 years.

As far as I know health and safety people stopped the ground runs as they were unhappy about the Vulcan being I quote “full of fuel all the time”. It would seem health and safety person’s may have limited the maintenance work that can be done on the Vulcan this along with the fact that the people who worked on it are now getting old is the reason its in its current state.

With a good clean a repaint and a bit of long term TLC XM603 could be kept on site long term and if and when Woodford shuts down the Vulcan could be kept on display at the housing or retail park that will end up being built there.

I have a feeling XH558 will be “moved” out the hanger in the next few weeks, sadly it will be moving into the local skip.

As was said below this project has been “A complete FARCE”, not only that but it is a disgrace that a working and complete Vulcan is now reduced to this, when the jet was first stripped down you would have expected VTS to at least have enough cash to put it back into at least static condition should it not get to flying status.

If only the plan to fly XH558 to Woodford back in about 1997 had been taken seriously things could have worked out so much better – BAE staff were happy to work on the rebuild for free, all the cash that has been raised so far could have gone into flying the Vulcan, still everyone said that was a stupid idea, not as stupid as the mess we have now is it ?

Oh well Concorde to the sky anyone 😡
