I doubt that any Concorde will ever be run up again, as for flying no way.
Has anyone a recent photo of G-BOAC they could post please ?
Thanks for the update, I’m looking foward to seeing this one when its all done.
This is just becoming a total farce and is getting worse as the weeks go by, I think its high time VOC just come out and say this ain’t gonna work out.
After doing so maybe then people will donate to get the Vulcan back up to taxing condtion, none of the people in charge of this project can even give a figure as to how much cash is needed to get the Vulcan in the air let alone keep it there over its planned display life.
It don’t make you very confident that this is gonna happen does it, oh and one more thing lets just hope this stops anyone else ever pulling a fast taxing aircraft to bits without at least “back up funds” for a rebuild to static condtion if the rebuild to fly becomes unviable.
Oh well the local “Nimbys” are having some fun with this.
First they claimed Tatenhill would be used for cheap airlines, now we have storys that 747’s full of cargo are going to start flying from Tatenhill.
At least ESFC have been trying to keep things in perspective and have got some good coverage in the local paper.
Well done for getting XX889 out that bog, good luck with the rebuild.
Sorry I was talking about the Hunters with regards to 2006 airshows, it would be nice to one displaying at Waddo like they did in 2004.
I would like to come to the open day in May, but have other commitments, hopefully
there will be another event later in the year.
HHA – have you decided what airshows you are going to be at this year and if so could
you tell us which ones please ?
Do you still do ground runs on the SU22 and what are your long term plans for this jet ?
Good luck with the Bucc it will be nice to see if flying 🙂
The last thing we want to do is take your money if we cannot complete the project but it seems we cannot complete the project without your money
With respect the project has had my money a fair few times, sorry but I am now saying enough is enough.
If I donate something I do not expect to get it back. The money I’ve chucked in the 558 pot over the years has been basically playing the Vulcan lottery – if I win and it gets airborne, great. If it doesn’t, well never mind…
Well myself and I’d think about 99% of others dont want there money back but there will always be someone who does.
Very nice, I do like Nimrod’s.
Andrewman- Nice idea about BAe but the simple reality with all these companies is as much as they love vintage aircraft the wages have to be paid. I cannot imagine any difference in price . Also CAA would not be keen on a flight to Woodford – end of story.
With the wages situation I know a few Woodford staff were happy to work for free on the project in there own time, the Woodford idea was mentioned back in 1998 by a couple of the Brunty team the idea being to make use of the local staff who had considerable experince of Vulcans.
I’m not to sure myself as to the CAA’s response to a ferry flight however this was nothing more than an idea at the time and no formal proposal’s were made to either BAE or the CAA.
But having said that BAE and the CAA have never said no to a Vulcan flying, when XM655 was first brought by Roy Jacobsen the CAA stated a number of condtions that needed to be meet, if that work could have been done they were going to review the case for XM655 getting back into the air.
Sadly money prevent this work being done, as did the lack of a company being able to work on a Vulcan at Wellsboure, for this reason he brought XL426 and had it flown to Southend as it was considerd that the mantaince compnays working there at the time could have completed the work the CAA wanted doing prior to a Vulcan flying again, but as with XM655 the cash simply never came.
Also in about 1985 BAE restored XM575 to be able to make a one off flight to Brunty and the CAA gave permission for this flight, of course it never happend but had it have done so would XH558 ever have gone to Brunty at all ?
As TVOC keep saying that ‘558 was bought for the Nation, who actually has title to the aircraft? And how will TVOC reimburse those kind people who have committed a lot of time and money to the project if it does fail? What is it worth as scrap value?
Yes what do I get back if the Vulcan don’t fly, could take them to court for “obtaining money by deception” as I alongside many others were told my cash would pay for the Vulcan to fly, oh and its worth as scrap wont be much, I dont think anyway.
The whole XH558 situation is now a total farce, I have supported the project since day 1 and sent in a fair amount of cash, and atempted to get others to do likewise.
But enough is enough the return to flight team may have had the best of intentions but its becoming clear that the cash to support this project just aint there.
Way back when XH558 did its final taxi run in 1999 it was agreed the jet was “still airworthy and safe”, would it not have been a better idea for the Vulcan to have flown to Woodford and been rebuilt by BAE rather than letting other company’s do the work.
It was said a couple of years back the BAE could have done the rebuild for around 50% of the price that has been paid so far, this money has been raised without HLF help over the last few years.
Then could HLF not have provided a grant to pay for airshow displays by the Vulcan rather than paying for a rebuild to flight that seems doomed.
It’s nice to see the Gannet getting some work done on it.
Vdery nice, I really like the BBMF one.
Yes the Bucc will fly again once HHA have completed the agreed work on XX885, see the link below for more details.

I doubt a Lightning or Victor will ever fly again in the UK, there are a few Lightnings flying in South Africa and one is under rebuild to fly in America.
