Do you think that the Garden Center buildings were in fact old RFC Anwick hangers or buildings connected with the aerodrome ?
Personally I say yes but if anyone knows for sure then please let us know.
Cool photos thnx for posting them Daz 🙂
Right then the comment about Anwick Garden Center being RFC/RAF Anwick seems to fit in with what I was thinking, it just looks right.
Anyway I have done a very iffy map that shows the garden center as a large grey blob, the church is shown by a cross. The current Anwick hanger is a gray box next to the church and the current runway is shown with gray dots.
So by adding the roads and then the position of the plaque it seems that the current runway was not the old RFC one and in fact the space between the plaque and garden center could be the site of the runway, as shown on my map with green dots.
Sorry if this seems a load of crap but it makes sense to me.
Nice photos Flood and wannabe pilot.
I think I need to find a better place to tkae dusk/nightime photos from as my back garden aint got the best views of anything.
That said I was pleased with the 4th one 😉
Might drive out to some countryside and try some dusk photos from their.
Thanks M8.
Yep it will soon be summer, the light nights, bbqs, and of course airshows will soon be back.
Theirs bound to be someone somewhere who falls for this.
I wonder what Lancaster this could be then, and its says he wants to get the Lancaster in full working order so does that mean running or as one hopes flying condition.
DME the light aircraft flights were certainly good fun.
Thanks for the advice Steve and Ken, will let you know how it all goes.
Thanks all,
DME – yes I have been in a light aircraft once or twice.
For me its gonna be my PPL in 2005 🙂
Also would like to do an air 2 air photo session, not that my photos are that good but its just something I have always wanted to do.
Still knowing me I would get in the air and then find I left my camera at home 😡
Anyway I hope you all get want you want from 2005 and have loads of fun doing so 🙂
Hopefully the Gannet will make it for 2005 🙂
Oh and on the subject of WK163 it would be really nice to see the aforementioned Canberra out and about again next year.
Does writing for your website count, stuff like this.

OK then Robbo lets make a change for 2005,
Duxford and Shuttleworth can have the jets and Brunty and Kemble will take the really old stuff.
Being serious Duxford and Shuttleworth are both high on my airshows 2005 list, as over the last year or so I have really begun to enjoy the sort of planes you get at these venue’s.
The great war display team in particular have really impressed me when I have seen them and their display at Wings and strings was bloody stunning.
As was the lancasters and the Mustangs etc etc.
More excellent photos thanks all of you, now anyone wanna spend a few million and get one flying again.
You can call it my Xmas present.
