Not sure what happened to the 2 Jet Provosts but I wanted to bid for 1 and Ebay have banned me due to their total ignorance and lack of understanding so sod em.
Didn’t we used to be GREAT Britain? And did these feet in ancient times….. etc.
Walk upon England’s mountains green π
The sad thing is that a load of scrap metal gets all this attention yet a few weeks back 2 Jet Provosts that were both suitable for ground running came on Ebay and their was very little said about them.
Anyway lets face it the second anyone trys to move this Vulcan it will fall to bits I saw it a couple of years back and it looked very unsafe and I for one would not want to walk under it or go inside it.
Anyway Peter its right this has become a total farce and its just making Ebay look very silly.
What I should do is go and nick the old Lightning F2 from that wasteland near Newark and sell it. With these sort of prices being bid for total crap I could end up with a nice house from it, plus a few weeks on a nice sunny beach π
The sooner the better
I have not heard anything myself but lets hope its true.
Oh well this wont win but anyway it was done on an S5000.
Is it that the powers that be aren’t too keen on the contra-props?
Don’t think the contra-props are an issue as they CAA are happy with the Gannet flying subject to each specific example being airworthy.
The issue with the Shack is that BAE Systems consider them to be “time expired” or “fatigue life expired” not sure of the exact term.
So to get one flying over hear it would need a respar so anyone got few quid to chuck in ?
“Shoot her quick, or by May we’ll be seeing Janie on the circuit with illuminated wheel wells, burberry fin, italic registration etc.”
Oh yeah that sounds like a class way to paint a Mustang.
I don’t want to sound harsh but its high time XL391 was scrapped as its doing the preservation movement no favors in its current condition.
Well OK it does provide a perfect example of how not to preserve an aircraft.
Hi Ross
The e-mail I posted above was posted on a couple of forums this summer by the person who signs the e-mail.
He clearly stated he was “a member of save Concorde”. If he is not a member of staff at Save Concorde then I apologize to anyone who felt misled.
The replacement camera I got today is in fact an S5500 which is a slight update to the S5000.
Thanks Mike.
I have decide not to have the Hunter trip but to save up some more and go to Thunder City in September 2005.
Will be having a ride in the Brick π but not the Lightning.
Going once at 6k
Going twice at 6k
Going three times at 6k
Sold to the village idiot π
Well Argos have replaced the camera already. Fuji told me to call them, so I did and they said bring it in and we will replace it for you.
10 out of 10 to both Fuji and Argos for their help π
Thanks richB
Swiss Mustangs as much as I would like an EOS 300D I simply cannot afford it.
Right then if Save Concorde don’t consider this e-mail to be rude then what do you consider it ?
This is what Save Concorde sent to Airbus and others.
Dear Howard
Many thanks for the reply. With the greatest of respect to you and Iain and everyone at Airbus, the situation with Concorde is not acceptable to the nation. Concorde is a British Aviation icon, the likes of which we will probably not see again in our lifetime. To dismiss Concorde as a has been, is to totally forget that she is the only supersonic passenger aircraft in the world, Concorde is the most beautiful civil aircraft the world has ever seen. She was born to fly !
QUOTE BY SIR TERENCE CONRAN:
βConcorde is the iconic aircraft of the 20th century β as futuristic and inspirational an image today as it was when it first flew commercially over 20 years ago. It captured peopleβs imagination and gave them an irresistible glimpse into the future,β said Conran.
For Airbus to unilaterally decide to ground Concorde, probably with the blessing of Air France and the French Government is a total and utter scandal. French politics should not dictate what happens in this country.
Am I correct in thinking that Airbus refused to cooperate with any other potential operator of Concorde, if this is correct, am certain EU law has been flouted. This is something which needs thoroughly investigating.
FROM A BA MANAGER:
Essentially, the French wanted Concorde binned! It was a real problem for them, so much so that they withdrew their aircraft from service way ahead of the expiration of the aircrafts’ C of A in France and of course way ahead of the British!
You have not de-commissioned Concorde; a better term would be “selective acts of wanton vandalism”, why are you and BA ripping out vital components from AF-216 at Bristol, you are doing your utmost to kill off any chance of a return to flight. This must stop forthwith, if Concorde was a Grade 1 listed building you would have been brought to book long ago. It is also disgraceful that the Governement has turned a blind eye to the actions of BA and Airbus, stop the wrecking now !
This cannot be allowed to continue, one Concorde must remain in an airworthy condition, I hope you and the senior executive of BA and Airbus fully understand that. Airbus and BA do not have the god given power to totally ignore the will of the British people. I await confirmation of which aircraft has been selected.
Concorde must return to flight in a heritage role, if we can finance a return to flight of a Vulcan bomber and continue to finance and preserve a Battle of Britain memorial flight, sixty years after the end of World War 11, the fourth richest country in the world can without question operate and preserve an airworthy Concorde. Not forgetting the billions of pounds which are in the Iraq budget.
I call upon all of our official supporters to do their utmost to return Concorde to flight, senior executives of BA and Airbus cannot be allowed to get away with the greatest industrial scandal in British aviation history !
Kind regards
