Yeah SADSACK your right about XH568 the way that Canberaa has been left to it is a crying shame.
I think that they have run its engines early this year so maybe their is a chance of it taxing one day.
The Kennet Seafire 17 is likely to appear very late Summer or early Autumn, certainly before the year is out and hopefully before the end of the display season.
If Kennet get their Seafire and Gannet flying it would make a very nice double act.
Hi peter
2 Sea Vixens are in running condtion alrerady they are,
XJ494 at Brunty and XS587 at Gatwick.
Hi Peter
Can you explain what the point of moving XR724 to Scampton would be. Their are no museums or nothing up their for it and I don’t think the RAF would like the idea to be honest.
The only people who might be able to keep it at Scampton would be HHA but they have their Hunters and the Bucc to worry about.
Elvington was mentioned as a good place to move this Lightning a while back and it would fit in well up their and plenty more people could view it every year.
Its a shame they cannot move XR724 to another location as their is very little space left to taxi it around these days.
Just think if only it could be moved to Brunnty 3x Lightning and 3x Bucc (if XW544 gets its engiones rebuilt) all going down the runway together now that would be bloody good.
Hi Peter
This Meatbox is an ex RAF NF11. Was until this year based at Hurn but is now at Coventry airport. The same airport it was built at back in the 50s.
HHA are working with the CAA to get the Bucc certified to fly here.
Not sure how long it will all take but hopefully it will soon be flying.
If the CAA say yes to XX885 flying then the Bucc that was with DeltaJets might be coming back to the UK again.
I missed this one and I realy wanted to go.
Looking at some photos from todays event on another site and the Lightning seems to have come very close to taking off today.
Did the Sea Vixen run up ? and does anyone have a photo the Canberaa.
Is this a face you could raise a gun to?
Nope no way they look nice and cute why kill them off ?
In the days when OFMC was seriously considering restoring a Meteor F.8 to fly, they acquired the engines and undercarriage from this aircraft.
Well OFMC had a Meteor F8 up at scampton but its now with HHA like most of the OFMC jets, however its not going to fly again as it has to much corrosion on the airframe.
WK914 is the serial number of the HHA Meteor.
I will try and find out more next time I talk to this person.
I was in fact discussing another matter with him and the “saint” came up for a second thats all.
Yep 5 left and not 1 is inside yet but Duxford and Cosfords should both soon be inside.
I agree 100% with you Peter its a shame about the Victor as their are very few left now.
This group also tried to buy an ex BDRT Victor K2 in about 1998 for a rebuild to ground running condition.
I think the sale went pear shape and the Victor was scrapped with the nose section preserved.
Yeah thanks both of you nice to know I can put last nights post behind me and move on.
Plenty more threads on Buccs,Lightning,Jaguar and Vulcan coming soon :p
