WV908 is airworthy and is infact part of the RNHF, not sure how it’s got to Duxford as its not flying at present as they are trying to find a new way to start the engine as the old system was considered unsafe.

I know but it was just strange that when I was there a few years back the place was full of “No Photography” notices, yet one can walk up to the main gate and ask the gaurd about taking a photo of the T4 and they are like “Oh yeah feel free”.

Its a shame that the T4 is at Boscombe in some ways as its the only T4 and might be better in a museum, Newark maybe as it fits in with the training collection they have, however Newark have a T5 so might not want the T4 anyway.

As has been said before, the lunatics have well and truly taken over the asylum. I just hope they (the lunatics) can prove they’d used a suitable trained person to carry out a suitably documented risk assessment first – all written up on paper produced only from sustainable local forests of course.

    🙂 🙂 🙂

Not quite H&S related, but I heard on the radio this morning that more organisations are now banning office displays of Christmas Trees and Christmas deccys, for fear of offending people of non-Christian religions.

All the people of non-Christian religions I talk to tell me they don’t find Christmas, Easter or any other Christian event offensive in any way. What does upset them is stupid local council jobsworth type people baning things because they feel it might cause upset. Do the clowns that keep saying dont have Xmas or Easter etc even ask those of other faiths if they want these events banned or not ?

Work is being done on the MiG and has recently had to move around inside the Museum hangar due to safety reasons. It now lives on the Side of the hangar in its own taped off compound where work is being done.

Thanks for that info, how close to flying condtion is the MIG and if and when it fly’s will it stay painted up as it is now ? as I think it looks rather nice.

Boscombe Down had an incident back in September 1994 some sort of secret jet crashed on take off, base closed all public roads around base closed etc.

America had some sort of involvment with the plane, anyway just do a web search for “Boscombe down incidnet” and you can find lots of info and storys etc.

One thing I find a bit strange about Boscombe Down is they dont like you taking photos of the base or its aircraft, yet if you ask to take a couple of photo’s of the Lightning T4 gate gaurd they seem more than happy to let you.

Woman gets £50 fine for recycling

Oh my God someone trys to help the environment and gets a £50 fine for doing so, giving a fine to someone who made a mistake but acted with good intentions and in the interest of the environment is not the way to win people over to the whole “green idea” is it.

If it can save money and fuel it’s gotta be worth a try.

so far no one has suggested the bronze could have been stolen to order either for it’s metal content or for a collector

I have a feeling that the bronze could end up being “reused” for want of a better word, however in some ways the thought that someone could make a profit from taking this war memorial makes this disgraceful crime even worse.

I think everyone agrees it was a vile and sick act and whoever is responsible should be named and shamed then sent to prison for a considerable period of time.

Does anyone if work is still taking place XJ494, as at one time they had stopped doing ground runs as the engines were becoming unsafe to run up ?
