Why not sent the ******s into Iraq and post them on the front line when they are caught. Maybe then they will learn to respect what the war memorial represented.

I do hope however that when these idiots are found out we have none of this “cannot be named for legal reasons” crap, they should be named and shamed for this vile crime.

That’s very true half of the problem in this case is the amount of compensation these smackheads are going to get, at the end of the day going cold turkey has caused them no financial loss so it has to be asked why in that case should they receive financial compensation?

I quote from the BBC report into this farce,

The claimants had been using heroin and other opiates and were understood to have been receiving alternative treatment before going to prison

While these people of course had the right to be getting this “alternative treatment” before ending up in jail, they also had a responsibility not to commit crime and not to abuse the law abiding publics right to be safe from crime, they failed this responsibly in the same way they say the prison service failed in there responsibly regarding the drug situation, can I therefore expect them to pay compensation to those who they have hurt and stolen from etc, no thought not.

The withdrawal of that treatment would clearly have a detrimental effect on their well-being. The Prison Service has a duty of care to their prisoners, that duty wasn’t observed and now the tax payer has to pay for the cosequences of that breach. If you want to blame anyone, blame those who made the decision to withdraw the drugs.

The committing of crime by these people will have had a “detrimental effect” on the “well-being.” of the victims so had they not done the crimes in the first place this would never have happened, therefore to complain about the treatment you get after showing no regard for other people is rather hypocritical.

Andrew, we know you don’t give a ****, we can tell that by the way you always resort to using expletives when you know you have no valid argument. It’s a sign of weakness. Your suggestion that the prisoners should be apologised to shows that you accept that they were wronged.

Of course I have a valid argument and it is that if these smackheads had not got themselves sent to jail to start with this situation would never have happened that’s my view on this whole sorry mess.
With regards to the prisoners getting an apology that costs nothing, and should be more than enough in case’s like this, these people will have cost us a fortune already in prison not to mention police and court costs, as I said before the smackheads suffered no financial loss due to this incident therefore why should they make financial gain from it when the rest of us have to bloody well work to earn our money?

Do you live in Midsomer? The fact that you split up because you were witnesses to an armed robbery says more about you than the armed robbers. If you believe so vehemently that you are right, you are entitled to that view, why don’t you do something about it? You could stand for election on a let’s hang all criminals ticket? Perhaps you could join some radical movement or create your own.

The fact we split up might be more to do with the fact that about 6 feet away from some bloke who was simply doing his job got shot about 3 times, this happen about 2 mins walk from our home, the stress that it caused is unreal, I’m big enough to say that it gave me nightmares and left me very paranoid for a good few weeks, and as I didn’t feel safe in my own home at the time due to criminal behavior I ended up just walking of and going to stay with my ex for a couple of days, nothing happened between us but my girlfriend at the time lost all trust in me so we split up.

At the end of the day, British Law is such that whatever the crime committed by those in prison, they are entitled to be treated with decency and the Prison Service has a duty of care to them. That duty of care was breached.

That’s your point of view and you are of course entitled to it however these people had committed crime thus ending up in prison in the first place, there is no such thing as a “victimless crime” someone somewhere will have suffered as a result of crimes committed by these smackheads. These victims also had a right to be “treated with decency” and a right to not end up as a victim of crime.

I don’t give a **** if these smackheads have a point or not, if a judge decides under British law that they have been the victims of wrongdoing a simple apology should be enough there needs to be a law that stops crinmails getting compensation in cases like this, an apology and new rules to ensure a similar incident does not happen again should be more than enough.

Whatever next alcoholic prisoners demanding to be provided with drink and gamboling addicts demanding trips to the bookies, I can just see the above mentioned groups have a field day in court when said requests are refused, or worse still I can see the prison service allowing the requests to prevent more court cases and bad press etc.

At the end of the day I will never have any sympathy for prisoners and there rights in the last 2 years I have been the victim of the following crimes

Theft (by a smackhead as it happens)
Id fraud (by someone who apart from going bankrupt went unpunished apart from a few sessions with a psychiatrist)

Oh and if that aint enough my girlfriend at the time and myself were witnesses to a very nasty armed robbery this summer and the stress and rows that followed caused us to split up, so please don’t wine on about criminals rights cause I just done care lock em up and make them suffer that’s what I say.

Get myself a massive house with indoor and outdoor swiming pools.

Get a nice car, nice holiday etc.

Give loads to family, m8s and charity.

Spend the rest on a collection of classic jets and learn to fly them, it would be nice to get some of the Mig15’s that are stored in Albania.

Turning on and off is not so easy for bright lights as used in lamp posts. If they were LED based then you’d certainly save power but with existing bulbs I would guess flicking them on and off for traffic and pedestrians would result in dramatically shorter bulb life, which would be expensive if the cost of lighting at sports venues is anthing to go by

In that case why not turn them all off from 12am until 6am, there is no real need to have the whole of the country lit up all through the early hours. Turning all the lampposts off for 6 hours would save energy, save money and reduce light pollution etc. However it won’t make the Govt any cash so it’s doubtful if it will ever happen. Sorry to say this but I feel like this green tax idea is just a way to boost tax. There are real useful things that could be done to help the environment without the need to tax us in yet more ways.

I’m sorry roscoria but I think your going ott right now, if and it is very unlikely London was to be nuked at some point in the future the whole country is more likely to stick together and go after those who have nuked us not fall into civil war, however I think the chance of London being nuked is somewhat small.

    Another idea,

Why not fit motion sensor’s on lamppost’s, over the last few week’s I have been traveling around Motorway’s and major “A” roads late at night and these are all lit up right threw the night. It can’t be that hard to fit sensors on these lights so they only turn on when a car or pedestrian is close by. Any cost in fitting these sensors would be recovered in lower road lightning bills.

This kind of nonsense has to come to an end soon.

Yes your right however I don’t think that it will, in fact I think it will get worse. It is a total disgrace that police are being told when they can and carn’t arrest someone the police are paid to do a job, its high time that the human rights people etc shut the hell up and let them do said job.

If I ran this country I would bring the following rule into place.

Anyone commiting a crime of any type will not have any rights to sue police or members of the public, if they get hurt, upset or suffer in any way due to the crime they have commited
