No problem Muzzey, Afraid i dont have a copy or know anyone that does.
perhaps if you contact the people behind the website they might be able to help? Or failing that the BBC?
Is this what you are looking for?
Thanks again !
The building is right alongside the main south bound motorway a bit south of Belfast, its one of those things you notice without really noting exactly where it is ! Its a red brick building which just looks out of place for where it is. I will take better notice of location and a photo if possible when next passing !
have had a quick look at google earth and think its @ 54°31’49.05″N 5°59’58.41″W . Dont know of any bases there during the war but then you never know !
thanks for all the info folks, once again the forum surpasses itself !!(is that spelt correctly?)
Dont know much about gliding but whats the opinion on the planned launch method ? would it have worked ?
Rocketeer has it spot on. Simply put the Nazi’s and the Japanese officially sanctioned mass murder and the killing of POWs as a matter of course.
Perhaps what is forgotten is the treatment of coloured French soldiers after the defeat of France in 1940 and the murder of coloured members of the American forces during the Battle of the Bulge, singled out from their white comrades and shot .and that ignores Malmedy.
If lynchings took place early in the war it was the reaction of people who were facing the danger of an invasion by a bunch of murderers. It is hardly a wonder that in some cases normal restaints were forgotten.
With regards to what went on in Germany is it any surprise given the mind control tactics that was going on or for that matter the weight of air attacks that was happening especially from late ’43 onwards?
Yes most military airfield buildings are built to an Air Ministry plan and design number (in the same way as aircraft or any kit really).
As an example Davidstow and Lavenham towers are Watch Office For All Commands 12779/41.
This goes for most buildings from mighty hangars to the smallest toilet blocks and wooden sheds.
Thanks !
is there an online source for these plans?
Dublin is effectively on close down , no buses, few cars or taxis. Up North reckon we have had about 2 inches since 8 when i got home.
Even more snow due again tonight so not looking too good for tomorrow .

A remarkable life. May he rest in peace.
Great shots Moggy, and yes very emotive.
Can anyone tell me if there was a standard set of plans used for the construction of various airfield buildings ?
For many years I have noticed a building near the motorway outside Belfast and wondered where it came from.
probably the same sort of fools who drive along doing paperwork or with a phone constantly clamped to their ear ! Or as i saw, on one occasion, to my complete horror a lorry driver steering with his elbows while he wrote something on a note pad !
Drivers can be unbeleivably stupid at times, i reckon its time for a major change in the way driver testing is done and the way people are taught how to drive.

Heavy snow from Dublin as far as the border , Motorway very dangerous in places with ice and reports of more heavy snow and ice on the way.
Great…little if any gritting or proper clearance work…typical useless County Councils.

have a very small piece of metal as well as a small pulley wheel from the B-24 crash in the Cooley Mountains 55 miles north of Dublin.
No photos…yet !
