If anyone else has good sites they know of please add them.
The Chliean fleet pictures are very impressive, just need a carrier to complete the set now. Invincible is on the market next year….;):D:diablo:
not only Invincible, but maybe :rolleyes: HMS prince of wales :D:D:D
and if 2010 transform to a dramatic year for the royal navy, maybe 1 or 2 Daring DDG class & 2/3 ASW frigate :rolleyes:
😉
You have really pegged yourself as a Russian hater, or Russophobe, as is too common these days on forums on the net. So sad.
Hi guys
I do not accept these comments!
I am not Russophobe !:mad:
I simply said that the futur Russia will not be as powerful as some may believe, that’s all!
end of the discution for me
best regard
My point would be: would you prefer more smaller ships with the same carrying ability or the route of a few big ships? Putting all your eggs in 1 basket springs to mind. Are these ships just to big? over 20,000 tonnes and America’s over 40,000 tonnes.
this depend the budget constraint of a country
some major country prefer big ships (much better for projection)
some minor country prefer small or medium design (much better for regional use)
It’s a big juicy target for an enemy especially if you knew they only had 1 and the invasion was off if you hit it.
escort with DDG or FG (or CG for US)
I’ve never seen inside any of these ships so i don’t know what space is like inside.
many view inside exist on the web
the french mistral were well know to be very spacious inside (some US officers were well surprised by this !)
One last thing does anyone understand the codes and can they explain them. (LPH, LPD, LHD, LST, LSD etc etc
LPH= landing platform helicopter
LPD= landing platform dock
LHD= landing helicopter dock
LST= landind ships tank
LSD= landing ships dock
LCT= landing craft tank
………….
This sounds like the type of BS journalist talk you can expect to find in the news. I certainly hope you don’t believe a word of what you said, because you are making baseless statements.
I am not a journalist & i am not stupid
New carriers are on paper, for now. Considering the vastly expanding budget of the Russian armed forces, 2nd only to the US in terms of PPP, you can bet that nuclear carriers will be seen eventually. That may well be before 2020.
For russian aircraft carrier……..LOL:diablo:…
Even the modernization of the former “ex Gorshkov” turns ridiculous (great underestimation of workload … or corruption:rolleyes:…….4 years delay)
No real project of Russian aircraft carrier is under way (except perhaps the modernization of kuznestov … to make it last until about 2025/2030).
And even if the Russian have a aircraft carrier project, this will be simply a improved kuznestov….. no revolution …
New cruisers – where did you even hear this? Something you made up to make your pointless argument seemingly have more flavor.
Apparently no futur russian cruisers project to replace the kirov & slava (earlier 1970’s design)
New destroyers – are planned to be revealed in 2012. No one has said otherwise. Currently, the 7 Sovremennys and 8 Udaloys are sufficient to make everyone think twice before engaging the RuN.
I suspect some amount of money has been laid out for the destroyers, as per the 2007 – 2015 FULLY FUNDED re-armament plan.
The actual Sovremennys & Udaloys russian destroyers were of 1970’s design….& obsolete by 2010-2015’s ! This need a fast replacement
you have images of new Russian destroyers ?, any keel laying ? :rolleyes:…..
drawing of possible futur russian design….only on paper :rolleyes:
Yes, you think submarines take no space to build? Considering there’s 2 SSBNs in the pipeline, and 2 SSNs of top quality, this is bad production rate? Are you insane? Along with 3 SSKs of Lada class? Plus a whole load of various corvettes?
5-7 submarines overload the entire russian shipyards :rolleyes:
corvettes LOL:p……maybe 3/4 of this ships were under 2000 tons (light corvettes, patrol crafts….)
A few NUCLEAR cruisers will be modernized. That is significant. The Slava class vessels are modernized and in great shape.
LOL 😀
a old design (1970’s) modernised with great cost (& hampered building new construction:rolleyes:)
Fiction: Russia can’t produce large ships.
Fact: Large shipyards are too busy to build the ships, and Russia has the $$$ to get even more ships over a certain period of time, through imports.
Why russian want to buy french amphibious ships when the russain itself produce during 1960-1980’s hundred of amphibious ships :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::D
simply because the russian shipyard lost the experience to build modern design…:rolleyes:
Light frigate? I don’t know what that is exactly. What I do know is, that the 22350 Admiral Gorshkov class frigates will be arguably the best anti-ship platform around, and formidable at air defense. There’s two already building.
any picture’s, any….delays 😀
probably a handfull (maybe 3-4) were to be really build during 2010-2018’s…:rolleyes:
Some have been under construction for 15 years because other projects were funded first. Since 2007, the massive re-armament plan has given a kick start to just about every program that was out there.
some of the ships with low-speed build (some in construction for 15 years) were a 1980’s design :rolleyes:)
bulava failure:D, recent engine failure for a russian kilo submarine in black sea, nerpa explosion 2008…:rolleyes:
and the Russian energy resources (oil, mineral, ect…) only fill a part of the deficit (in budget term)
Russians are less powerful than you may think
a paper tiger
😉
Don’t compare the British and the Russians. They are worlds apart in terms of overall military capability. Growth potential of the Russian economy also dwarfs anything Britain can possibly foresee for the rest of eternity, really.. While 6 nuclear carriers by 2030 seems unrealistic, I’d say by 2040 that becomes quite viable. 4 CVNs by 2030 is quite doable.
Hmmm ….
Remember that all current new russian naval modernisation programs (new aircraft carriers, new cruisers, new destroyers) are currently only…..on paper …….:rolleyes:
Currently (and certainly for the next 2-5 years), any large Russian surface combattant ship to be built (except submarines)
(Only a few cruisers will be modernized …… with a great cost)
Moreover, the actual great weakness of Russian shipyards is shown by the following facts:
– Amphibious ship buying in French (this demonstrate the actual non-capability of russian shipsyards to produce big warships)
– Russian shipyards have built in recent years that only some smaller vessels (light frigate, corvettes, patrols crafts….some are under construction since 5-15 years :D:D:D )
😉
For me,
the possibility that the Russians keep for themselves the former Gorshkov is a possibility but let us not forget that at this moment, the Indian negotiating with Russia the price of the ship ………we are wary of rumors ……..manipulation….pression……:rolleyes:
but this option remains viable for the Russians, that they would have 2 aircraft carriers by 2013 (kuznestov & gorshkov) ….
(The announcement in 2007/2008 by Russia that have 6 aircraft carrier by 2030 is REALY TOTALLY unrealistic,……….already the british are not sure to have 2 aircraft carrier by 2018 … and that no Russian aircraft carrier project rise recently (or in foresable futur)….
….. except the purchase of French amphibious ships (BPC design)…..
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
