I’ve looked around Feshie and asked people who would know, but there’s no sign of any residual T21 parts, sorry!
I remember about 12 years ago a hangar packing spoon made of two T21 wheels and tyres (sob!)
Dave
She’ll be lovely when you’ve finished! I’ll ask around at Feshie, they seem to have crashed several T21’s in the past>

I’ve seen Chris Zahn do his display half a dozen times and both smokes always worked.
(p.s. he crawls along the wings and lights a blue touchpaper!) :D:D
How’s the event been going at the Mynd? I’m stuck in Indonesia. Always a pity to miss Chris Zahn’s aerobatics in the Habicht.

B*****, just had 4 Wills stickers made in gold! Thanks very much for the information though.
P.S. I didn’t find any signs of your damage during the CofA , so the repair must have been good.
cheers
Dave
I could never work out the reasoning for the weird mix of 20 mm cannon and .303 machine guns in the Beaufighter, Spitfire etc. I think I remember hearing somwhere that the ballistic charcteristics were pretty different (which would make sense). If so was it
a) Lack of confidence in the cannon (true enough about the early cannon Spits)
b) The “old guard” saying that cannon are unnecessary and 303’s worked fine for me etc etc.
c) We’ve got the space so let’s stick a few 303’s in for good measure (or in the case of the Spit leave them where they are?
d) All of the above?
Didn’t the early night fighter Beaus have the 303’s removed because of the radar array in any case?
Check the Bluebird (Campbell’s boat) rebuild project
http://www.bluebirdproject.com
they are moving heaven and earth to preserve original material but often stress how easy it would be to fabricate new parts rather than refurbish the old bits
Soggy – thanks for that – there’s a B&W photo at Feshie showing what turn out to be the hi-vis triangles but they must have been lost during the 1980’s re-fabric.
Think I’d prefer the logo in gold! But were the under-wing Wills logos original?
Boguing – No it’s the other WD & HO Wills Swallow which was won by the Cornish Gliding Club at Perranporth (see my earlier thread titled “Mr Soggy – Cornish Gliding Club”)
Soggy – many thanks for the photo. Googling WD & HO Wills produces a “History of WD & HO Wills” apparently by Dave Napier if the URL is correct. That shows a logo comprising a stylised diamond shaped tobacco leaf superimposed on a large W, all in gold. It certainly resembles the logo on the fin in the photo. If you have the time can you have a look at that website & let me know if it jogs a memory or two?
If it’s the one, then your photo gives the size and position, which is great. And the rudder needs to be blue?
Dave
Al – I thought you might. Any chance of a copy? Can’t help with the canopy, sorry
Facebook – I seem to have heard of it!

Who was it who said…….
The Spitfire was great, but the Mustang could do it over Berlin.
Circumstances vary

Unfortunately there’s been a lot of collecting of aluminium for scrap in the last few years in PNG

you’re correct as ever. I guess the original canopy was a victim of one of the “arrivals” which resulted in repairs.
