SE-161 Languedoc F-BCUA (45)
Lazy again, haven’t looked into this one yet.
No caption. Heathrow, probably 5th May 1952
Edit: only thing I can find on Google is, apart from this thread, at http://perso.wanadoo.fr/herve.brun/Spotting/listse161.html, which seems to indcate that this aircraft was c/n 17 and served with the French Airforce (SASM 99/EARS 99) as before being transferred to SAR in March 1955 and re-registered as F-SSUA in December that year. Then again my French is pretty bad.

HP81 Hermes 4 G-ALDY (44)
Once again, I haven’t had the time to check up this one, although I know it served, after BOAC, from 1955 with MEA as OD-ACC.
No caption; London, most probably 3rd May 1952.
According to G-INFO, this was c/n 25. The AJ Jackson collection has pictures of this aircraft in service with BOAC, Skyways (http://www.ajjcollection.co.uk/alaa.htm) and MEA (http://www.ajjcollection.co.uk/lebanon.htm) registered as OD-ACC. Similar mentions at http://pascal.brugier.free.fr/registre/txt/od-aaa.txt and http://wassch71.tripod.com/cedarjet150.html, but no dates or ultimate fate known.
Thanks, dhfan
DH106 Comet 1 G-ALYU (43)
No caption. London Heathrow, probably 3rd May 1952 (day after G-ALYPโs first commercial flight)
According to G-INFO, this was c/n 6007. According to http://www.dlyoung.freeserve.co.uk/DH106/COMET.htm, this aircraft first few on 18th September 1951 and was used by de Havillandโs until delivery to BOAC in March 1952.
Following the unexplained loss of three BOAC comets in 1953 and 1954, this airframe was purchased by the RAE and used for full-scale pressure cycling tests. There are plenty of references to the Comet disasters, but I was surprised how few of G-ALYU on a web search. Best set are at http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/hendon/exhibitions/comet/comet4.cfm including the other attached.
The remains of the airframe were said to be scrapped in the mid-1960โs.
I’m not actually covinced there’s an airfield down there…

Dove 1B G-AKCF (42)
Most of the rest of the photos to follow are from bigger (4 x 2 inch) prints than those before.
No caption. Possibly Hurn 29th May 1952 and probably being operated by BOAC.
From G-INFO, this was c/n 04030. http://pascal.brugier.free.fr/registre/txt/tj-aaa.txt has this aircraft as having a number of registrations (CF-DJI, G-AKCF, PH-MAD,G-AKCF, TJ-ACE) and being upgraded from Dove 1 to Dove 1B specifiation. There is some speculation that the aircraft may still exist(?).
http://www.ruudleeuw.com/aviodrome-dec03.htm has some pictures of a different airframe painted up as 04030 whilst serving with Martinair as PH-MAD at Aviodrome, Aviation Themepark near Lelystad, the Netherlands.
The are two photos, one in BOAC colours, in the AJ Jackson collection (http://www.ajjcollection.co.uk/d10.htm).
Airspeed Ambassador (pic 41)
Caption “Ambassador London 3rd May 1952”. Contact Print.
This has to be the most frustrating picture of all of these. There’s just no way to read the registration; it could be anyone of six or seven aircraft at Heathrow than day. Why couldn’t BEA have painted them bigger!
At least the last shot in this series will be a top air-to-air photo of an Ambassador.
Aerial Photo of Colerne (pic 40)

Moving on…

All I can add is that the picture was possibly taken on 27th May 1952 and that my Dad never did learn to pan with moving objects.
According to http://website.lineone.net/~biggles200/associfleethis.htm, it was operated by the (British) Ministry of Civil Aviation prior to its sale to BKS Engineering on 29th November 1955. On 30th October 1956, BKS sold it on to TD Keegan. It was, according to http://www.baaa-acro.com/archives/accident_1959.htm, being operated by the same when it was written off after an accident at Elstree (21st November 1959).
Was TD Keegan a company or a person?
There is are 4 pictures in the AJ Jackson collection (http://www.ajjcollection.co.uk/ajaa.htm) and two in the Ken Moulsen collection (samples at http://www.aviation.technomuses.ca/collections/image_bank/dig_image.cfm?Lang=e&id=KM576 and http://www.aviation.technomuses.ca/collections/image_bank/dig_image.cfm?Lang=e&id=KM554, rather heavy water marks – C$12 each for a better scan – but well worth a look through the archive)

I’ll put the blurb up as an edit later. For now:
No caption, contact print. Hurn probably 1952.
Were Draakens based from Halstad in the mid-90’s? I seem to recall them on a visit to the Gummifabrik.
Nice shots of ‘exotics’ ๐
