Excellent! Thanks for sharing.
G-ACDA DH82A Tiger Moth c/n 3175 first on the civil register 6th February 1933 became BB724. It is still current on the register although the CoA expired in 1982.
“. . . pending suitably trained staff.”
Can I be the first to volunteer?!
Can I be first to second you, PL?
Ta, Chaps
From G-INFO, I can’t find any Miles Falcon’s with reg G-A??E. If the aircraft could be a Miles Hawk (I’ve really little idea) then it could be G-AIUE, MILES M14A HAWK TRAINER 3 which is in my Dad’s spotting book (no place, before about January 1952).
I believe they were all catalogued – in the good old sense of a typed listing on paper: frame no. plus subject (usually serials and people’s names quoted, not just “a Spitfire and its pilot”). Availability is another matter – I think at the moment they are in the process of digitalisation, which might mean that noone can see them at all.
The RAFM website says that no copies (digital or otherwise) are available pending suitably trained staff.
Good that they’re safe; frustrating not to have instant access from our impatient keyboards.
Heath Parasol G-AJCK (67)
Caption “Heath Parasol JCK Christchurch 11th October 1952”
From G-INFO, this was a JAP-engineed Heath Parasol, built by SOUTH HANTS ULTRA-LIGHT AIR CLUB (c/n SH1 !). No other info so presumably long since expired.
AJ Jackson did a snap (http://www.ajjcollection.co.uk/h0.htm).
According to http://users.adelphia.net/~aeroengine/Aeronco.html, the engine was a JAP (J-99) built version of the Aeronco E-113C developing around 36hp.
Anyone know the aircraft’s fate; anyone identify the aircraft types in the background?
Not an auction, even
Comes down to how authentic you wish to be. IIRC, the new Me262’s use modern turbo jets, not Jumo 004’s. I’d guess they’ve reworked the structure to modern standards and materials, added modern avionics etc. You can be sure the wiring will not be insulated with rubberised cotton etc.
So what compromise is acceptable? Towards the end of the war, the typical service life of a Luftwaffe aircraft was six hours. From Summer 1944, they started building them on that basis. Bit worrying that people are digging up bits wrecks that were barely airworthy before they crashed 60 years ago and putting up again?
Build anything that there is a demand for if you can capture the spirit of the aircraft safely.
Anyone for a Fw200 Condor?
Would it be impolite to ask the sort of money a static Hunter costs?
Spitfire; P51D – dead common these days
Now a Cessna 170…
Me I am back to drool over Mark 12s piccies of Mossies and then todays wonders in MofTF generous picture posting (and Damiens and everyone elses), thanks all for some really useful and generous sharing of your pics, oh and the Corsair from B25 pic from across the pond, what the internet is really about innit!
Spot on.
And-the last British ww2 aircraft carrier. Despite the best efforts of a group trying to get it preserved back in the u.k., it now lies in a scrapyard in India, being unceremoniously chopped up.
As pictured in the Daily Mail last week, I think
Does that make the Canberra the longest serving front line type? 53 years and counting…
Ercoupe 415CD G-AKFC (66)
Caption “Ercoupe KFC Shoreham 2nd August 1952”
From G-INFO, this was an Ercoupe 415 CD c/n 4784.
http://pascal.brugier.free.fr/registre/txt/oo-aaa.txt list it as previously being regstered as N7465H, OO-ERU and VX147(G) before G-AKFC.
AJ Jackson managed six pictures of this one (http://www.ajjcollection.co.uk/e4.htm) as G-AKFC and two as VX147; http://www.transportphotos.com/Air/britciv/g-ai_to_l.html has two shots apparently of the airfraft with Surrey & Kent Flying Club at Biggin Hill.
It has a mentioned at http://www.samoloty.ow.pl/str341.htm if you can read Polish. The gist seems to be that the RAF brought this machine to evaluate (doesn’t explain the OO-ERU registration though?)
Fate unknown.
This is all that’s on the website: http://www.rafmuseum.com/hendon/collections/photographic/charles_brown.cfm

Thanks all,
Not catalogued means, presumably, no access to regular folks.
