Saab,
Where did you get the information from? I’d be really interested to read any article on jets at LCY.
Thanks!
I think it would have to be the Excalibur livery of the mid-ninties. Fantastic royal purple!

Charles De Gaulle actually has three terminals, the newest being terminal three which is pretty small and is used by low cost airlines (easyJet, Germanwings) and charter airlines.
I flew down to CDG for the day with BA on Sunday and to be honest there were very few good viewing opportunities, but it was a very interesting airport to take a look round at.
It isn’t too suprising, easyJet revealed earlier last week that they expect to make a loss for this quarter due to the extra operations taken over from go, so taking on another new carrier would be a bad idea.
I always watch the safety demo, I took four flights this weekend:
STN-MAN (ATP)
MAN-LHR (320)
LHR-CDG (763)
CDG-LHR (319)
All with BA and despite the fact that I’m a seasoned flyer I always watch, out of courtesy really, it can’t be very rewarding having to stand up if no one is paying attention and thus making the whole excercise pointless.
Wow! Now that’s a total suprise, I can’t believe FlyBE are completely dropping their Belfast City-London City route. I thought it was one of their most profitable and popular.
I’ve looked through every major European busienss news source and there is nothing on this story, it seems that it is just an old rag trying to sell papers with lies. I don’t believe it for one minute.
I flew KLM last year LHR-AMS-TXL-AMS-LHR and they were pretty good, nothing special, but they were better than some and all of the flights were full!

According to Ryanair that is exactly why they purchased Buzz, £14 million was just too cheap to refuse.
Luckily Ryanair have since said that purchasing other airlines is not in their plans. So at least other airlines employees can be sure that they will not have to incur the rath of Ryanair!
I’ve just done a little bit of research and as well as the FlyBE service on a Saturday there is also a daily service to IOM operated by FlyKeen.
I can confirm that it is Blackpool and not Liverpool. Ryanair announced a new Dublin-Blackpool service last week and now there’s also this Stansted route.
Blackpool currently handles Charter flights for the tour companies, it’s only regular scheduled service is to the Isle of Man on a Saturday. I stayed at a hotel next to the airport a couple of years back, it has a pretty modern terminal, nothing special though. The majority of flights are GA or pleasure flights over Blackpool itself.
I’m definatley behind the service and I’m off to book my flight now! It’s main competitor will be the London-Manchester routes, if it can happen at Liverpool then why not at Blackpool as well!
Urgh! I flew Alitalia last week. I flew from Heathrow on an A321 and back on an MD-80 and I can safely say that they were far and away the worst airline I have ever flown with! There customer service is dismal, they accused me of lying over what time their check in desks had open (Which I can assure that I must certainly did not and incidentally 118 other people seemed to agree with me!). The actual flight there wasn’t too bad although the food was awful and we were delayed because they only opened the check in desk at 0508 for a 0615 departure.
The flight back was complete nightmare, the MD-80 was uunclean both inside and out, the cabin staff were depressive to say the least and the approach was one of the worst I have ever experienced. There was no crosswind and no turbulence, however the pilot successfully managed to bakn at about 30 degrees just 300 feet from the ground and then succesfully land as far away from the centre line as possible!
All that for £170…rip off 😀
RE: BA new seats
I flew World Traveller Plus in December to Piladelphia and then back to Heathrow in January. I found it to be excellent, better than amny airlines Business class product. It was very comfortable, the entertainment was great and you got everything you could possibly want. I was very lucky to pay for an economy class seat and then get upgraded both ways thanks to a friend of mine who is a Senior Captain on the 777 and on the way back because I agreed to travel a day later due to overbooking.
Club class onboard BA looked amazing and as for first….Wow! WT Plus doesn’t seem to come close to those, but it was fantastic anyway!
RE: CSA
I’m afraid you might be disappointed by the lack of ‘Soviet Charm’ CSA have become very westernised with a modern western fleet, also there is a distinct lack of Soviet style service, the staff onboard the aircraft always seem happy! 😀
I hope you enjoy your flight!
RE: CSA
Ruznye is a pretty hasstle free airport. I haven’t been there that recently, the last time was 1998 I think. I’ve flown out of there seven times. The first time was 1992 and at the time the airport was pretty poor really, still recoverying from the communist era.
On my later visits a lot had been done to improve the airport, the first Jetways were introduced and on my last visit I found it very pleasant, a vast improvement. Apparently it has been developed further since I was last there.
I hoping to fly out to Prague again in the summer, possibly just for the day to do some spotting and have a look round again.
