I believe 603’s radome was removed a couple of days ago to be fitted to 558 in the next couple of days while 558’s is readied for flight. Can anyone grab a picture?
It’s started then 🙁 I will try to get over this weekend down the golf course road and see if i can get a shot….500mm mirror lens with 2x converter should do it !
one more bit from Woodford
In the grass by the Nimrod/Comet AEW was the left overs of either a military 748 or an Andover.

Woodford dump 1985
Not a Vulcan but at least it was where they were born. These shots were taken at the 1985 airshow and were just dumped behind the car park.As you can see they were obviously mock up’s for a certain AEW aircraft !

Especially of the Vulcan
I’ll have a look Peter,th other i have are black & white whit copy better than the slide stuff,
That is a cracking poster. You might want this to go with it…
Cheers,I wonder if there will be any more 603 bit’s and pieces coming up on Ebay when the axe finally comes down 🙁
Its not your fault she was cut up, perhaps I should have been more specific, thank you for sharing that photo, but the actions of others bring a tear to the eye?
Good photo though Skud, under normal circumstances we could say one that wont be repeated, but as we all know, 3 Vulcans are / have been scrapped now all in less than 3 years…….. now that is sad 🙁 Bex
Yeh i know what you mean,i keep bobbing over to Woodford to see how 603 is doing, still whole last week.
Now that brings a tear to the eye 🙁 Bex
Sorry 🙁 i have quite a few old school photo’s of this one in either slide or b&w.
Can i add my pics of the tailess Vulcan at Scampton taken in 1986

Wonderful atmospheric shot. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, there’s more where that came from…….in a box somewhere !!!!
Welcome to the North ! Manchester is booming as a city goes, loads of things to do and see.Heald green is only a short distance from the Peak District which is full of those things called hills ( i know it was proberly a little flat where you came from) but do not be afraid they are fantastic to explore !
I wonder if the Manchester science museum are going to have anything from her, they have a complete Shack and an Avro 707,part of a Vulcan would be quite fitting
🙁 Oh well shes had a good innings, thanks for the info FLipflop.
😡 It’s sad to see her ready for the chop after being at Woodford in 82 for the final landing, lets hope the stripping helps 558 and maybe other more fortunate Vulcans.
Just had a quick jaunt to woodford this afternoon to see how the old girl is,here are the photos as she is now taken with my little old Nikon Coolpix with digital zzom so apologies for the pants quaility !
From the distance
The new aircraft are nice but i’m afraid the Tu-154 and the various Migs do a lot more for me ! Quality post overall !!!
Where did you get the sun from????? I only live 15 miles away from Manchester Airport and all it did was rain today (still is actually) As for stepladder gimps….does kicking it over class as a bit over the top ???:D
