there are pics online of her being pummeled to death by a JCB
Ahhh JCB ! The weapon of choice for most Vulcan destroyers and now the owner of it’s birthplace !
Thank you for your replies.
No the one I was meaning was around 1985/86 and was complete (or at least looked it from the road) So it must have been XH563. Unless XL384 also stood in that place in complete condition for a period of time. But from driving by in the car, I recall only seeing the one standing there.
It was 563 you saw,i have a bad picture somewhere of her with the damn fence in the way ! The fire dump only had a wooden fence to hide it,hence the good piccy of it !
This one ? This is XL384 in 1986
XH563,B.2 MRR,she was scrapped in 1986 and the nose survives still
Love all old Russian metal, great stuff annd thanks for sharing.
Great photo’s of yet another aircraft we did not appreciate at the time……all we see now is twins that i cannot tell the difference between an Airbus or a Embrar….thingy whatsit !
Stunning aircraft, well done everyone involved ! Seems NZ is the place for classic British aircraft !
1st Mig-29 is a stunner !
The backdrop makes up for lack of old Russian stuff, amazing ! An-12 for me too, just love those old giants !
Great set of photo’s,i look forward to seeing her better shape now her future is secure.
Anyway it managed to mate my interests together of aviation, cycling and countryside…..what could be better !
Anyone know the history of this which had a misshap on it’s way to Mars ! 😉
:
Some pictures i have seen on the National Trust site show it with rudder and air brakes so i guess they are to be fitted.
At least they are going from one classic Boeing to another, love SP’s !
Fantastic colour scheme, again another aircraft we never really appreciated when in service. If we knew then that most of the airliners at airports today would be twin engined clones of various sizes then i think we would have taken more notice, photo’s ect and enjoyed the noise and smoke more !
I think i have an under-exposed picture of the Argosy,is it the one that tail booms snapped ? I also have pics of a very dead Red Arrow Hawk
