Indeed agree.. glad those weird vert stab are gone.. .. but I think 38-09 is same as the one that one shown in AI brochure(esp the first one on the top):

AMCA design evolution till now:

i think manned deep strike is a dying fashion
True… thats why having IUSAV is imp in future? Long Range drones will not be shared or sold as they come under MTCR. But countries will get it anyway courtesy China
Greetings 😀
got a question.. Given that Indian airforce operate very diverse inventory of aircrafts, i wonder how Indian airforce integrate all those aircrafts so they can share situational awareness or even directing fire? Like say datalink, can Indian Mirage-2000 share data with Su-30MKI ? Or can the A-50EI AEW/C share its radar picture to Mir-2000 ?
thanks for any response given.
Mig 21 bisonhave data link, dunno if they are compatible with Sukhoi 30 MKI
Sukhoi 30 MKI TKS-2-27 datalink
Future : standard operational data link (ODL) (latest Jaguar have it i think)
upgraded Mirage and upcoming Rafale would share data link(guess)
what sales pitch to the IAF?
UK is still trying and hopeful /paris-air-show-2015-uk-senses-eurofighter-opportunity-in-india-qatar-after-reduced-rafale-buy
I simply don’t see IAF choosing the Typhoon, since cost is clearly a big issue.
Agreed. But politics and capitalism is powerful force which can make a nation take seemingly illogical step. So I cant predict. To me it seems this is canard being floated, so that a hard bargain can be driven with Rafale for next 80-90 aircrafts.
Also, if they struggle to negotiate with the French, how will it be to negotiate with a consortium made up of companies from 4 different countries? In addition: How committed will the other countries be to the Typhoon in the future? The UK and Italy will focus on the F-35; the Germans don’t care much about their military, apart from trying to keep the costs down.
Every big Indian govt tender(defense or otherwise) based deal is a big “struggle” for all (domestic/international)participants. Although odds are against EF. But India had/has been operating euro types which saw limited service in OEM country of origin in Europe itself (Jag/Gnat). There is limited chance that given low prospects of EF right now winning a major deal outside Europe, chances are EF can be offered at good prices for G2G deal, with offsets figured out.
Edit: PerhEuropeanaps the IAF is just “getting even” with the RAF:

:dev2: The Revenge Of The Elephant!?
Anyway, there might be another explanation to this surprising interview. Perhaps the RAF “arranged” the results; now they can go back to their politicians and say “see these results, we do need further upgrades to the Typhoon, even the Su-30 can beat us” 🙂 (or alternatively “we need more F-35”)
Maybe the case, so we may see a TVC equipped EF in furure !? :p
But I think, RAF would have tried hard to beat Sukhoi 30 to show, EF superiority over Sukhoi 30 and hence a better sales pitch to IAF, especially during the time when
rumors of 80 MMRCA rfp’s to be sent again.
That “interview” has been proven to be fake. “Unamed PAF officer”? Interesting how the comparison with Pakistan Air Force is never more then a few posts away with any subject matter on the IAF. Inferiority complex much?
LOL!! I expected Mountain to do somersault to become a crevasse! So Mountain trolling on every IAF thread is what: a) Inferiority Complex b) “Mission”(TM) c)Personality Trait?
@ Mountain
Had the Typhoons scored 12-0 victory you’d hear about it a lot, especially, again, as they try to sell the Typhoon to India.
Correct!
This really does paint the IAF in a poor light.
So Molehill, IN what light does Pakistan Airforce gets painted when an PAF “official” brags as in this case:
F-16 Falcon fighter have beaten the RAF’s brand-new Eurofighter Typhoon superfighters during air combat exercises in Turkey, according to a Pakistani officer.
Enough of derailing this thread already. The Indians will think we’re pakistanis paid by ‘mountain’.
Actually this discussion is better than self gloating cr@p posted by some pakisatani trolls ( excluding likes VikasRehaman.. who has a somewhat nuanced view of things). Unless you guys have succumbed to the dark side of K2, you are OK. 😉
Anyways, any ideas what “hot sections” of components of AL 31 engines is Indian still importing from Russia. Has ToT for alloys/ceramics been shared with HAL or the Raw material is being supplied by Russia. Also will PAKFA deal consist of ToT of Engine to enable India build engine from its own raw materials?
TBH i think they are unfounded. Training crews should avoid such accidents.
Agreed trained Crews could avoid such incidents. I am thinking about panicky situations, when uninformed people stuck on cliffs-mountains/ soldiers deputed on high altitude run towards chopper for grabbing relief/getting rescued.
HAL likely to licence build Ka-226T ‘Hoodlum’ for Army, Air Force
Dont you think K226 is a bad choice for supply and rescue in high altitude considering its lower rotor being so low slung(just like KA 26). It could hit people when landing on cliffs on uneven positions. Also getting out from Kamov when it is powering down on ground would be a risky proposition.
but then again it could be just me, and the above fears could be unfounded.
Suggest you chaps calm down a little and read the comments I made.
I have some experience of Indian workforces and thus an opinion on aspects of working with an Indian workforce.
Neither of which I have shared to any significant extent here.
You are getting your knickers in a twist over your assumption of what that experience has been and what my opinion is.
For all I know my experience may be totally unique to the area that I work in, at no point have I claimed any level of knowledge beyond that which I have.
All my posts were doing was challenging assumptions based on thin air which were then being used to support an opinion.
(As an aside, of course you are free to make comments on people based on real experience. It would be a censored and easily manipulated world if that were not the case.)
You say you have *some* experience, and in your “wisdom” or lack of it, you decided to paint all the Indian workforce with the same brush? Remove your head out of sand. You are not unique in having multinational experience. It would be quite silly if I or anyone were to paint all people of all nationalities with same brush, on the basis of dealing with few people!
If you have no first hand experience of working with Indian companies / workforce and are prepared to attempt to dismiss first hand experience as “anecdotal” I’ll mark your opinion down as rather moot.
OT
And you have worked with every Indian S/W teams? Since on basis of your experience, you seem to club all Indian SE teams together, it paints a very poor picture of you as expat team member/manager.
It’s interesting, that India have so many problems with Su-30MKI engines, while Malaysia and Algeria have no problems with the same engines. They they say, that in half cases it was bad quality of fuel, than they have problems with low pressure of lubricant oil, vibrations. India will have to use proper quality of fuel and lubricants and proper quality of maintenance. There is for sure also a question of quality of HAL production. I’m sure there is a reason, why Dassault doesn’t want to give any guaranty on HAL build Rafales but only to those build in France.
Completely asinine argument! India has longest serving Sukhoi 30 MKI in its fleet than other two nations. Malaysia. India already assists the Malaysians with SU-30 support & maintenance. Sukhoi themselves have acknowledged engine problems and have introduced design improvements at no extra cost to India to improve life and durability of engines, but the improved engine life of 900 something hours is still less than the promised engine life in contract. HAL has recently started manufacturing engines from RAW materials because of which availability of air frames have increased from 50 to 57% approximately and will be increased to 75% this year as stated by Def Min in the Parliament!
