If a 90KN engine is now required, why can’t they still do that? Why is a JV required?

Size x produces y kn thrust and has z hrs life. Requirement is to produce Size x engine with y+15 kn power and has z + s hrs of life. Pray, teach us how to do that?

So just having access to specialised materials would put GTRE in a position to design and develop an engine near/equal to M-88 / F414 / EJ200 in performance?

Well that’s what GTRE & SNECMA aims to do from the JV, produce an engine not only equal to M88, but surpassing its current avatar, which they have declared. GTRE inspite of all handicaps, have managed to produce a 80 KN Engine, I don’t see why with better Material Tech in Hand they cant produce Jet Engine fitting user requirements.

The question is not whether GTRE can build better engine with access to better materials.. but whether GTRE can get access to material tech from JV, which NO COMPANY would like to part with the alloy expertise built over the years, as it will harm their business interests in long term.

Thanks for that info. Been away for a couple of months. Should you know / choose to hazard a guess, what expertise can GTRE bring to a co-development? To be blunt, what could they be responsible for without risking damaging the prospects of the co-developed engine?

Atleast GTRE can point out to jv partner: “What should not be done” and “What technology you ought to bring it on to the table for joint development”

GTRE main aim would be to gain more on alloy/material know how for core section, rather than getting a KT on “How to design a Jet Engine”….

So really your only response to my statement is to randomly bring Britain into this, when Britain is actually unrelated. So, we wonder, why did you attack the professionalism of the British forces? Perhaps it is because I am from Britain, and you thought perhaps you might be able to get some revenge for me daring to give an impartial, on-topic opinion, instead of a pro-Indian one that would be more suited to your own world view. Your desperate attempt to provoke me has certainly confirmed to me that my original statement is quite likely to be correct, and confirmatory feedback is always useful 😎

Ahh so it riled PPP because I compared British Navy(sorry Royal Navy as one real British Gentleman put it over here) with Iranian Navy. :p And still he could not understand futility of comparison between two navies of different sizes and temperament which I wanted to bring out. (But I am really surprised the tenacity with you want to defend Pakistan’s Navy, Nukes, and their Generals (what next Osama too??? :D))

PPP giving himself a pat by calling his skewed judgement as impartial…. ahh like it!!

[QUOTE=Buran;1782673]Isn’t this part of the hostage rescue drama?

My understanding was that Pakistan Navy was tasked with escort duties by Task Force 151, because they were the nearest coalition ship. And that Indian navy only rushed over there and tried to take over the operation after intense media scrutiny back home.

Could you give a link which proves your hypothesis that Indian navy tried to snatch operation from Pakistani Navy?

Rumour has it the Pakistani nukes are in the control of a fairly sane general. Not sure about the situation with the Indian nukes.

😀 Man ! you made my day! I cant control my laugh after reading above! sarcasm at its best!

I doubt the Indian forces have any more professionalism than the Pakistani forces. I see them as both being at around the same level broadly speaking.

Yeah I agree, just as Brit Navy is as professional if not equal to a Iranian navy

It’s always easy for one side to come here and present one sided evidence, then draw conclusions based on that alone. It doesn’t prove anything.

Actually the evidence was provided by one of the Pakistani Sailors themselves in the form of video, as usual laced with the “professional Pakistani Naval speak”. So this video isnt as you put from POV of Indian Navy, albiet its from point of Pakistani Navy!

    @Boom

Pak-Fa can be hastened with money.

Killing Tejas only to immediately go into cooperation with SAAB
on the NG as a replacement to it and MMRCA pick.

Then get a major player into the AMCA, not lite counseling!

Let me give you another suggestion.. Let Swedes kill the Gripen NG, and ask India for partnership in AMCA program. Because Sweden or no Sweden, Tejas and AMCA will happen

I’ll let the Swedes appreciate “dumbing down to gripNG levels”
as it relates to replacing Fishbeds, M2000s and Tejas!!!

IAF the evaluator thinks otherwise… Gripen has not been finalized as its too similar to Tejas.. dumb or otherwise

As for cancelling a program with dubious results, just remember
that America ( Which, IIRRC, has less problems feeding its people
than India. ) is reducing the F-35 program and has in recent years
“killed” Comanche and EFV amongst others! Maybe a lesson there?

as you said that even US of A has killed many its programs, and sure Swedes have no problems in feeding its own hungry people, so learning from the lesson, it should be a child’s play for it to kill and wrap up Gripen NG…

Could you please let our Prime Minister know that? 😉

Force your govt to revoke, believe me India will still survive and continue to prosper and do what is doing right now. After all it was not that when east Indian Company came to aid us “barbarians” and and then only we were lifted into prosperity 😉

As some sage internet warrior said: Aid money is all about “capitalism wearing the mask of humanitarianism.”
Wonder why British PM has to India to ask CII to invest in UK? UK is getting x times more in return as investment from India.

Benroethig, if Indian govt just prepares to defend against two front onslaught from China & Pak, jingoes will be happy. P8I is an antidote for formidable Chinese + Pakistan sub flotilla.

Wish Indian Army gets basic things such as towed arty & SPH as fast as possible. M177’s are being purchased, but they are not in enough no.’s. Boeing P8I was bought on some understanding with US, hence it will see a relatively fast induction, rather than going through long arduous saga like mmrca or worse arty saga.

UK doesn’t face cold war type threat anymore, hence it can be bit relaxed for now. We know that if push comes to shove, Britain will not hesitate to up the ante!

How about Turkey collaborating with China for light stealth fighter? They both have common friend Pakistan and lately China has shown interest in building up military relationship with Turkey. China could very well subsidize & help in their R&D effort, in return for special relationship with a NATO member and a gateway to Europe, and off course silencing critics on east Turkmenistan.
