Interesting proposition. Truly, Boeing may be working on other surprises, beyond F-15SE? I’ve been saying for years that LM deserves to be shut out of future alternative export market due to incompetent and flawed FMS calculations/management. They dropped that ball, concluding to not require/desire anything in a strategic pipeline sense. Epic fail.

To the thread’s topic… perhaps something like a 2m stretched, twin upgraded F414G-EPE powered GRIPEN X (with thrust reversing and LOAN nozzle)? Unmanned or Manned capability after 2020. Doubled internal fuel over NG mod. Possible 2x Meteor bay/or CFT – forward the landing gear? Semi-conformal Meteor ejector rail on the CFT-opted module? Something like a LO, interchangeable-IRST/FLIR pod (conformal) for a central hard-point? Maybe an all-moving, reduced sized vertical tail-stab, possibly combined with a single F-16 CCV-type control vectoring fin aft of front-gear (to couple w/ smaller-tail stab)? (something for marketing mystique as well practical effects)? T/W (with CFT), 50% fuel, 2k lb payload = 1.35 ballpark? Super Cruise (with CFT-bay Meteors and 2x wing-tip IRIS-T/MICA-IR, and center pod configuration) = 1.3? Navalised capable of course.

Hi all, my first posting here on Keypublishing aviation forum. 🙂

(Some of you may know of some particular slant(s) of mine, on a few aviation forums, but I try to be analytical, sincere and independent).

I’ll contribute my initial support for this competition, as part of a revised competition involving multi-sourced ‘Split-Leasings’, for accelerated fleet replacement.

Surely the PratWhit boys would be pleased with this complementary opportunity.

Yeah, so IMHO it (2 or 3-way source leasing) would be cheapest (vs massive split-buys), most effective up-front method of rapidly replacing legacy KC-135, via a first tranche tanker fleet order (until DoD decides later exactly how many KC-X are required in total, taking into consideration USAF’s tactical force structure will be drastically reduced in size, per default, far more than officially advertised today to Congress).

And perhaps as a condition to this potential deal w/United Aircraft Corp, USAF could get some accelerated PAK-FA leases in as well, to help out with their tacair recapitalization issues?? 😎

    Respects-
