Large collection of aircraft related manuals (maintenance, flying and training). Bulk of the ‘historic’ collection are Air Pubs for the HP Victor and Vickers Valiant. Also have a large number of manuals for the DH/HS Trident.
I donated my entire collection of Valiant manuals to the Highland Aircraft Preservation Society to aid the restoration of XD875’s nose section.
Its a worrying new world we live in, where people are criticised for trying to protect their contracted terms and conditions.
macz,
I use a Canon350D with a Sigma 50-500mm lens. The viewpoints from the fence are fantastic and you can still stand under the flightpath, if you are brave/stupid enough….lol
The Jag shot was taken at Kinloss, during the CQWI exercise.
Cheers for the comments folks.
Mike – it was VERY noisy – just as it should be.
As other’s have stated XO and XN are from LOT.
Dean – congratulations – would buy you a beer or three, but I’m just a tad too far away.
Must admit to being on tenderhooks towards the end of your last post. Ever thought of taking up writing….lol
This was the most riveting and interesting thread I’ve read in a very long time and I genuinely looked forward to your posts.
Let us know how you get on with you Multi-engine and IR.
Dave – It was on the simpits.org mailing list. Roy mentioned that he had purchased a fuselage and wings for wv838. Whether this has any connection to the above, no idea.
Elsewhere Roy has mentioned that he has sourced a fuselage and wings for WV838’s cockpit.
Dean,
Cracking posts as usual.

Market a bit strange at the moment, one major operator was looking at potential redundancies recently. We’ve not had too many leavers in recent months, in fact a lot less than in previous years.
Yet its been a challenge to find suitable candidates for slots we have available, due to our expansion.
Must admit never heard of ‘speed’ limits with regards to taxying, in any case there isn’t always a suitable or available display that shows an accurate groundspeed.
Having looked at the French AIP and CDG charts – I can’t find any mention of ‘speed’ limits on taxiways at CDG.
Interesting subject.
Out of interest how does this affect various Historic Aviation Magazines?
Some publish photo’s from ‘Joe Bloggs’, during his time in the forces, whilst he was stationed at some ‘exotic’ location, during the 50’s/60’s.
But does anyone know WHY Sir Richard is so desperate for bmi? Is he really interested in a short haul operation out of LHR – its a nice big black hole to throw your money into? I can’t see him being allowed to asset strip bmi of their LHR slots for longhaul – the government/EU would certainly have something to say.
Personally I think a takeover will be difficult whilst Sir Michael personally holds 50% + 1 share of the company – he bought out his two partners from the BBW group a while ago (LH/SAS own the rest). Unless Sir Michael invokes the agreement with SAS/LH and sells to them, I think Sir Richard will have a very tough time in his quest.
That said there have been plenty of rumours about the possibility of Sir Michael retiring at some point in the next couple of years, so who knows what could happen.
Although I’m now at DSLR convert I started out with a FZ10. For a beginner it was a great camera, especially the zoom and stabilization, however it has its limitations – shutter lag for one.
I don’t know if Panasonic have improved the sensor, but the pics tend to be noisy even at low ISO settings.
But for a ‘one-size, fits all’ camera, the prosumers are hard to ignore. Small, light, easy to handle and no ‘dust’ issues.
Dean,
This must be one of the most interesting threads I’ve read on here for a very long time.
Out of interest what aircraft type are you doing the training in at the moment?
