Being carless it’s only worthwhile for me if they are landing from the east. However if that’s the case on 1st May I’m game. Went there two weeks ago and there’s no problem standing at the end of the runway and it’s only a couple of minutes walk from the terminal. All landings and take-offs can be seen. If they are landing from the other direction then it’s difficult unless you have a car to take you to Charlwood

I was in Chicago in 1996 and spent a day at O’Hare. It was possible to go airside (apart from in the international terminal) without a ticket by going through a security check. Of course this was pre 9/11 so it may not be the case today. There were plenty of windows in all the domestic terminals. After walking round all of them I settled at the end of a pier in the American terminal which had a view of the international terminal and some of the cargo. A fair proportion of the visiting aircraft came past and I had no problems with any security guards. I suspect things are quite different now and maybe it would be worth e-mailing the airport authorities in advance if you were intending to photograph or log planes. They may be even more sensitive than other US airports due to the presence of a USAF tanker base.
Midway is also a busy airport (lots of biz jets as well as airliners) and there, again, I managed to go airside and sit at the end of a pier which was fairly close to the runway.
Have a good trip, but you may need to be careful around the airports.

Good luck to Embraer. But didn’t the UK have similar types? The Jetstream 31 can be compared with the EMB 110 Bandeirante. The Jetstream 41 with the E120 Brasilia. The BAE 146/RJ70. RJ85, RJ100 with the ERJ? Where did we go wrong?

The AFR flights from Lyon to LHR which were flown by Cimber Air CRJ’s are now being flown by Britair CRJ’s.

On Monday one 734, G-DOCX, was flying out of LHR and went to NCL and GLA. No BA 320’s (or 319’s or 321’s) at LGW. Only the GB Air 320’s and 321’s.

To be truthful. I never found human inadequacy funny until I discovered aviation forums! The idea that people who are largely unsuccesful should spend their leisure time spelling out the the rules of the world to people who are generally in control does seem quite prepostrous to me. Perhaps this is meant to be part of the joke, a little like the pan telling the chef how to cook!
Oooh!!!! (holds handbag up towards face). Us inadequates have obviously been taught a lesson here by a person who feels he’s ‘generally in control’. Nice to hear it from the horses mouth, but talking about mouths, does anyone else sense a slightly bitter taste?
Sarcasm aside though, good luck to him. I’m sure plenty were mocking Stelios and Branson when they were just starting out.
