I think PAF plans to maintain around 400 fighters of 3 types-JF-17, F-16, FC-20. But its worth remembering that these plans are not engraved in stone. As for the STEALTHY version, its unlikely. Though one should expect certain measures to reduce RCS in future variants.
Abhi what are the ACTUAL range/payload figures for LCA MK.2 and how do they compare with respective NG/F-16 figures?
Abhi, what are the range-payload specs for Tejas mk.2 vis-a-vis Gripen NG?
Wasn’t the IAF report meant to be out by the end of july?
rather than 1-risk of sanctions.
As for the female pilots i have seen a vid of F-7 flown by a female but not any other fighter type.
Finally a question. We now know that current JF-17 employs a data link. Most likely of chinese origin? But does anyone have more details about this?
If i remember correctly, PAF chief recently said that new F-16s will predominantly be used without CFTs. Not sure why? As for refuelling F-16s, it would most likely be an american refueller. When? Well that depends on availability. For present i dont think its a priority as these birds seem to have adequate range for their needs.
PAF acquisition of MAR-1 & especially MAA indicates the possibility of A-Darter in future. Other possibilities include Mica & some chinese AAM. Its likely they’d go for two types.
C802A with a range of 180km is currently being integrated with JF-17. Should become operational over next 6-8 months alongside SD-10A & some PGMs.
Considering the importance of PAK-FA to russian forces’ modernisation plans, how eager would russia be in allowing israel-the closest US ally-to join the project. Any large scale israeli collaboration could cost them many potential customers. No?
The trivial things people discuss here defy all logic. JF-17 generated a lot of interest at the show, not because it was the best thing out there, but because it was something new. And people were curious.
As for pak/china production, any customer specific customisation-avionics/weapons-would be done by PAC, while the production quota would be determined by how busy the production/assembly lines are.
Abhi, Qataris only have a dozen or so M2Ks. But yes there were price issues & so it never happened. As for UAE, they operate 60 odd, but the fate of their machines is a long way from certain & depends on their choice of the replacement which is unlikely to come for another few years yet.
I third that. A number of PAF officials cited the above reason. My personal impression was that PAF would want the first international airshow display of JF-17 to be a fitting one.
ps. On the way to farnborough they refueled in saudi arabia, jordan, turkey and italy.
I didnt know this before but HAL was there at farnborough. Like many big companies they seemed to have a big stand to themselves with massive pics of ALH-Dhruv etc on the outside walls though i didnt see any of LCA. Unfortunately i only saw it around 5ish so couldnt visit then. Any pics or details?
Please stop derailing the thread. If this was LCA, i bet we would be hearing the very same arguments but from opposite sides. Point being, give credit where due & learn to show respect even to your adversaries.
As for sd-10 this should be a lesson-always take the middle ground if not abs sure-for those of us who were insistent that its already operational & those who were saying that no work has been done yet in this regard. Considering active aam integration does take a while it seems that the work must have been going on for sometime-if its to be finished by the year end-albeit withoup reporting-read pak/china secrecy.
ps. Abhi’d be shocked if they induct 28 machines, have op bvraam by year end but no ioc news.
Calm down people. It could have been insurance-marketing depts. have their allocated budgets, and it usually costs an arm & leg to do it in the last minute-or radios or some other reason. It was displayed as flying and later changed to static-apparently on paf request. Whats the big deal? I tell you whats the big deal. HUGE EGOS which force us to highlight the minisculest +ve in our own anything -ve in our opponents’. Period.
