Even on the J-7s, the PL-8s cannot be carried on the outboard wing pylon. Only in the inner wing pylons. Only the J-8II is tough enough to carryt he PL-8 on the outboard pylon.
According to the following report about zhuhai airshow
http://www.aviationnow.com/content/publication/om/200103/om61.htm
Provision has been reported for incorporation of Russia’s UOMZ Shch-3UM-1 or Rafael’s DASH helmet-mounted sights in the J-7E/F-7MGs’ weapons systems, in conjunction with either Vympel’s R-73E (AA-11 “Archer”), or Rafael’s Python 3 close-combat AAM, produced in China as the PL-8.
Does this mean whereas it can carry 4 R-73, it can only carry 2 pl-8s?

What’s ur opinion regarding rumours about FC-1A…with increased wing area and increased number of hardpoints etc.?
Bear in mind that AFM reported sometime last year that first batch of pakistani FC-1 (60-80 units) will be air superiority oriented. This was later confirmed by a high level official from PAF, which indicated that further modification may indeed b made to later batches.
BTW Pakdef put pl-9 (AAM) in PAF inventory???
According to f-16.net, belgium purchase a total of 160 F-16s.
After reductions in military budget, it was decided to keep 90 in sevice (service and spares) and subsequently these were authorised to go through MLU.
According to latest issue of Flight international…Industry sources say Lockheed Martin, Pakistan and the USA have begun discussing a mid-life update for Pakistan’s existing fleet of 32 F-16A/Bs. Pakistan also hopes to acquire up to 18 used F-16A/Bs from the USA or other operators .
Interestingly, according to latest issue of AFM, due to more cuts in military budget Belgium AF is going to take out another 18 F-16s from active service by the end of 2004…and i assume that these may eventually be put on for sale???
A few days back i came across the latest issue of Combat Aircraft. It published an article on past and future of russian fifth generation fighter and concluded that thet there was not much hope due to lack of official funding. This news adds more substance to that.
There is no current data about FC-1 from CAC about sustain turn rates, instantaneous turn rates, climb rate, Acceleration etc. So don’t open your mouth before anyting is released from CAC.
The following site used to have an article (rather old) comparing the basic performance of FC-1 with f-16 and IDF. For some reaso i cant babelfish that article anymore. But if i remember correctly, sustained and instantaneous turn rate of FC-1’s were quite close to that of f-16. No idea about acceleration, but i think its climb rate is around 235m/s.
