No Media has picked up on it yet but Derry Airport wont be getting planning approval for a new runway and even if they got planning permission tomorrow the earliest it could start would be late next year for construction. This means when the -200 go Ryanair cannot operate from Derry Airport! This will be a major blow especially as it is regarded by all the City of Derry Airport management as the life blood of the airport!

Now Ryanair are aparently looking at Belfast or Enniskillen (which has planning permission for a runway extension by quite a bit) but the word at Belfast Intl is that they cant take any more airlines on due to lack of stand space until new terminal wing is built at least. This leaves only other avenue, bar Enniskillen or pulling out, at Belfast City but they would have to use remote parking and this would mean it would cost alot of money for buses etc and the buses have to cross the runway to get to remote parking which complicates the matter more!

Anyhow easyJet are strong at BFS and STN is a good Load Factor (as are all flights for the most part) and ops from Intl or City to STN probably would drive prices down until one airline pulls out!

Snow has now hit all most of Northern Ireland. The inbound bmi is late from LHR (due in at 2030 and hasent landed as of 2320) and the City Airport is staying open beyond normal 2230 closing time to accomodate it seems.

A Bombarider Aircraft and would agree with WD about CRJ but all their cockpit windows looks similar and i said GE due to aparent height from ground.
