    Would have thought leasing ££££ would be set price each month or is it because long haul routes have less cycles put on airframe therefore not reducing the life expectancy as much as doing short haul routes would?

    I dont think bmi would merge, as they would not be willing to give up their name as it is a sign of quality in the aviation industry, i think alot of members would agreel.

    The problem that this causes is there is no way on earth Virgin, let alone Richard, will give up the Virgin name to go under any other name as it too as a large reputation at stake!

    Also bmi are going All Airbus and would not favour 747s in the fleet!

    THen do some checks on your fuel etc. Its only boring with the default aircraft.

    E.g. have u tried a flight navigating via the VORs so each time u pass one u enter in the next ?

    Here pilots, when im on an easyJet flight the pilot usually comes on and says we are travelling 5XX mph. How do you work out it in miles per hour? an ATC told me you times by 1.15 or 1.17 or something but unsure.

    Yep as remmber in AW issue ages ago they did an article on the desert and the team who own the plot charge the companies to keep them airworthy which involves towing them into a hanger, rmoving coverings and doing full check that the parts are ok (visual and i think they test APU or something).

    The silver foil that is used to cover all surfaces where there are delicate parts and the windows, isnt exactly cheap in the first place. Storage, i am told by a friend in us, is cheaper than having your car stored at a secure car park!!! Its just the above charges which add up!

    Doesnt say anywhere if they are as looked yesterday. All i can say is the 747 and A340 are appox around 15cm long (no ruler handy).

    Concorde I think is the same. They come in silver boes with VA logoembossed onto it and the Virgin logo.
