I think that its too short for the Airbus A320 family.

Dash 8 Q400, BAE 146s or Emb 145 should not have a problem

I can see consolidation happening. By this I mean I can see “super” low cost airlines emerging. I could easily see ryanair easyjet being the only two airlines covering europe conclusively.

I believe the flybe’s of europe have a role to play and could easily take away traffic from the likes of BA and BMI in long term.

I do believe the likes of BMI will look further towards long haul over short haul but I can see them still making money on business class travel within the United Kingdom – especially if a properly led expansion plan put them up against BA and they won.

I think in the long term airlines will look to have as much commonality as possible and this could lead to more inhouse maintaince for the bigger ones, which for the most part is already in practice.

    My two cents anyway!

I won’t profess to know the exact grievance, but striking will surely be counterproductive. It puts BA at risk which, logically, puts the Cabin Crews jobs at risk.

My thoughts exactly (sorry to steal your phrase sandy)

    failure of the winglet program

I had forgotten about the Winglet program between JetBlue and Airbus. Any news on which it was deemed a failure?

Personally the EI, BD and FR bags at Dublin seem quick to me. BHD can have a similar wait time for bags and they have a shorter distance to travel and more available operatives “per bag”.

I find LHR to be bad especially if they do not park on the normal stand (102 from BHD). I have waited up to 1hr 40mins at LHR but average is 40mins

STN i have waited 3hrs 30mins in 2002 for bags (due to collisions between bag vechiles on the ramp we were told) but generall its around 40-1hr mark of arriving on blocks.

Most regional airports have been reasonable but BHD is quickest ive had. BFS can be either extremely quick or very slow.

I found American Airports (DEN, JFK, LGA) all good with bag times and YYZ was quick enough from memory (heavily delayed flight :()

Lufthansa semed very efficient as have flown them couple of times. Bags with LH have always made their connections onto international or regional flights from the LHR-FRA route. For example we had 25mins to catch or JFK flight due to late LHR-FRA service. Bags arrived at aircraft before we did (they had closed doors prior to boarding)

I imagine the large buildings at the 05 end would cause a bit of a problem if it was used (which it wont be)

    Scotty,

FR is a clever business. It never backs itself into corners willingly. I would strongly imagine that their T&C have a get out clause whereby it lets the airlines charge extra should be required.

This is similar to my profession, the events industry. If you buy a ticket for a event we always state in T&C we have the right to refuse entry without refund etc. You agree to the T&C when purchasing a ticket.

I think FR may just use a refusal to travel clause as it covers endless possabilities such as drunk, agressive or refusing to cough up passengers.

I think easyJet have hinted they will collect by bucket “donations” at check in?? Unlikely to raise much I certainly would not pay!

Surely, this doesn’t say much for security at Dublin Airport. If this man has somehow managed to get out of the airport, getting in would be just as easy.

If I was incharge of airport security I wouldnt mind anyone leaving the compound but would be critical of those entering. I get your point fully but I think if he had been trying to gain access to airside he would not have suceeded.

Important thing is did he gain access to the terminal? Unlikely he got out through airside access gates. Would be too easy to mix in with the passengers on an arriving flight into Alpha or the new fangled portaterminal north of Alpha.
