Hi Rich,
Sorry already moved on.
Looking for a Bristol Hercules Modification 3810 to the blower shaft drive. Need copy of the detail to assist in our build of a hybrid engine. Any info on source welcome
Was embodied on Hercules 216 engines, possibly other late engines.
The Buckmaster, shame it was not saved.

A Swift in 1956, nearby was a Lincoln and a Buckmaster.
The OP (old person) working on the Beaufighter engine was trained at RAF Halton in ’56 to 59 on the Merlin and Hercules 100, we had no manuals or special tools but were just told what to do! Fast forward to 2024 and we are trying to find out the proper way to do things.
What is this Bristol tool for?
Thanks for heads up, but looking of an Air Publication Volume 6 for early Bristol Hercules. Fitted to Bristol Beaufighter, HP Halifax, Short Stirling, Vickers Wellington, Avro Lancaster.
Been through Geoff’s list, no luck I’m afraid. Anybody able to search Australian archives?
Thanks Geoff, that will keep me busy.
Very often manuals were given to museums but storage was a problem so many got dumped. RAF Museum have a few but not for early marks of engine.
Beaufighter RAF Halton cockpit classroom, boost pressure gauge facia 11″ dia. now on eBay.
Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft have now been grounded whilst investigation of the Spitfire crash is ongoing.
Wanted! Copy of Spitfire Modification 1323 that details the removal of the Thermostats from the Spitfire Mk. IX cooling system.
This mod. was issued in 1946 to delete thermostats from both Merlin and Griffon powered Spitfires which had engines with two-piece cylinder blocks.
I have the Mod. for the Mk. XIX but need it for the IX as the pipes are different and not shown in the parts manual.
Arrival in Norway.

It is still in Australia being used in a similar way, pattern for a hybrid engine. Attached is picture of the two engines as they passed through Hawker Restorations on their way to Australia.

Herculean journey! Noted by Peter Vacher in an Indian University, parked outside, retrieved by the Indian Historic Flight, shipped to Brize Norton by Indian AF from Palam, moved to Hawker Restorations, sold and shipped to Australia. One engine purchased and shipped back to UK via Shanghai, China. Now in The Fighter Collection Hangar. Phew!, what a journey.
I wonder how they came to be in India? These engines are Mk. XVI’s which were fitted to the Halifax. What was the Halifax doing in India?
