Hercules 264, need to stick with the 216.
Also bringing in other components, photo attached of a second back end. As mentioned previously, looking for an oil cooler and a second prop hub.
Another way people could help! Does anybody have a cache of Bristol tools, would have a number prefixed by the letters FB.
Any more engines out there?
The engine is a Series XVI. It will be cannibalised of items for the hybrid 216 engine for the Beaufighter.
Items to be removed include, supercharger, induction manifold, sump, and everything to the rear of the crankcase.
On its way from Oz!
Can anybody help with a digital copy of a Volume 3, Parts Schedule for a Bristol Hercules 100 or 216?
Some time ago TFC purchased a ton of spares from New Zealand. We have the Part No.s and have identified what we can use on the back end of our hybrid engine now we want to know what we can use on the front end.
More exciting news next week!
Just found the full reference in the Australian Beaufighter BD43A Parts Manual.
E192231-A Cooler-Oil Port Assembly 27B/12436
E192231-B Cooler-Oil Port Assembly 27B/12437
Refers to Beaufighter oil system assembly drawing 244257.
The number with an E prefix is a drawing number issued by the Australians.
Thanks for the heads up Geoff. Purchased a couple of the Plessey pumps. Not sure about the oil filters. The magneto is correct for the Hercules 216 but we are going for a hybrid engine where everything aft of the crankcase is early Hercules.
Attached is the layout for the three volume system for the early Bristol Hercules engines. It can be seen that the Section covering tools is:-
Volume II, Part 3, Section 1, Chapter 1 – Tools & Equipment.

Re:- 36DD/ that is the Section that covers all Merlins, some Part No.s have a “D” or “HB” prefix.
Not always easy to find overhaul tools. I have a Vol. 3 for the early Hercules and the only tools listed are Flight Tool Kits.
Does anybody have a breakdown of the 3 Volume and 6 Volume AP System giving contents?
Another possibility is that it was fitted to the Australian built Beaufort.
The part I am after is Hydraulic/Pneumatic converter assembly E40302, Parts List No. E10371 manufactured by Goodyear.
Anybody seen one? I know it was fitted to the Bristol Freighter but it could have been fitted elsewhere.
Also found the 6353A-0 as being fitted to the Lancaster I, III & 10 fitted with the Merlin 20, 22, 28 & 38. Propeller Model No. 3/5000/5 hydromatic.
What is of interest is the u/c. The Freighter had a modification that allowed the brake air system to operate the hydraulic brakes, a Goodyear part.
There are some parts from the Bristol Freighter we would be interested in. Who has the remains?
