Hi Texan,
Thanks for the heads up. Although photos, description and condition are poor I think I can make out one is a Claudel Hobson and the other two are also no use to us.
Attached is photo of what we are looking for.
Thanks for the heads up. The first is for the Hercules 630 which is a late civilian variant. The second one I have copy off.
Now if somebody has a copy of the Hercules 216, that would be good!
Hi Mark,
Your assistance would be welcome. We have one Australian Beaufighter parts manual, incomplete. Not sure what engine manuals were used in Australia.
On the lookout for the large oil cooler used in the Australian a/c, Brits. used a smaller one. Out of the country at the moment so do not have Part No. to hand.
Peter
Thanks, have purchased a couple of fuel pumps from the same guy. The magneto is not the correct type for the early Hercules but is suitable for later models. Elliott has helped with supply of early magnetos which are with Vintech for overhaul. Also supplied early oil pumps and centrifuge.
We are using the Hercules 216 ex Hastings for the core element.
Wants list:- Starter Motors Rotax C.1247 & C.1231 24v.
KB2 or 3 spark plugs
Peter in Brisbane is proving a great help as a lot reads across from his hybrid civil engine to our hybrid military engine. We are sharing the physical technical knowledge as well as the manual knowledge.
My little knowledge of the Hercules 216 stems from four years on No.36 Squadron Hastings at RAF Colerne back in the 60’s. Great days!
We will use any and every facility to progress the project, expect some more news in the New Year, keep looking!
Thanks for the heads up.
Looking for a factory drawing for the Beaufighter VI or X propeller blades and hub.
Propeller Model No. 3/5000/6 Hydromatic
Prop hub assembly PX536
Blade Assembly P455960A-17
DH Propellers fitted Type 55/4, 55/14 and 6/6.
Martyn and Shaun are busy at The Fighter Collection double checking systems as they slowly start the assembly of the CR-42. Focus this week has been on the fuselage controls which has required further research and translation of the J-11 manuals thanks to our friend Par in Sweden.
Swedish in the war time manuals is not always compatible with modern Swedish.
One of Aviations great characters. In addition to being author of “Aces & Wingmen” he was also very knowledgeable about all aspects of US involvement in WWII.
If that was not enough, for many years he was a volunteer at The Fighter Collection with another great aviation character from Essex, Ernie Taylor.
Fly high guys!
Wanted for the Beaufighter. Oil sump that fits between the lower cylinders of the Bristol Hercules.

Read most of the manuals, need more!

Great to see those Beaufighter manuals, many unique, especially the Australian ones. Has anyone got an Australian contact who could search for the Bristol Hercules manuals there. All comments welcome.
Can anybody help with a copy of AP1728D & E, Volume 3, Parts Schedule for the Hercules XVI – XVIII? We have a copy but it is at Amendment List 18 dated 1950’s. We need a wartime issue as many of the parts were changed probably as a result of the introduction of the Hercules 26 and 27.
Hi All,
With your help we are doing well. Just been loaned probably a late copy of Bristol Engine Technical Bulletins and also a 1945 copy of AP1374F Schedule of Spare Parts for “Ignition Cable Screening Harnesses”.
Now the more difficult ones, “Hercules 216 Aero-Engines”, Vol II, Fits & Clearances, and Vol III, Spare Parts. Help!
The 216 was fitted to the last version of the Handley Page Hastings. The Kiwis operated four but they were powered by the Hercules 737.
