I met Mr Fleming at the roll out two years ago. He does seem enthusiastic and also a genuinely nice person too. We all want to see her fly again but it is all down to money. Would it not be better to see if the USA can take her and fly her in their country. It would be pants for us, but at least she would be in the sky where she belongs! I don’t think it helped when she finally returned to flight in the Oct when the airshow season is over. I dont understand how all the decisions and red tape are dealt with, but I feel that had they put her back in the air 4 or 5 months later then there was the whole season to sort out any problems.
I really want to show my son what all the fuss is about with 558 and get that ‘vibrating chest, car alarm going off’ feeling but if the money isn’t there, it isn’t there. It does seem strange how certain people on the TVOC team ( a charity) are paid VAST amounts of money, whilst people like myself, who are struggling, are donating what little we can spare and find it is going on wages numerous times our own salaries.
The world has gone bonkers. How many millions do we spend on blowing up things in foreign countries yet can’t equip our troops? How many millions does a Typhoon cost? One little blackbird can write off £10’s millions in one go, but there is no money left to preserve icons of the past??
