WOW!!
Whats the second one?
Wow, that I-153 sounds like nothing else I have ever heard!
I’d actually say that that is now my number two favourite aircraft engine note. (Behind the almighty Merlin!)
Are these of any use to you?
Taken at RAF Llanbadr in North Wales when I was on holiday.
I don’t get it. Anyone help me out?
escuincle- who IS that girl in ur avatar? She looks a LOT like my ex…
I like your town. Wish there could be a few random aircraft parked around my bank in Oxford. It would seriously enlighten the experience of finding yourself overdrawn…
Am I being silly or is that an F-104?

‘Ordinary Men, Extraordinary Deeds’
I remember a few weeks ago, I was on Horspath Road rugby ground training with the rugby team in Oxford. Just forming up to do a lineout I hear an engine rumble around the ground and as I realise where I had heard the note before a Spitfire (of some desegnation!) bombs overhead and banks lazily left just over my head. At that precise second the sun comes out from behind a cloud and casts autumn dusk sunshine along the wings. I swear the pilot waggled his wings at us as he powered off over the BMW works… Absolutely magical.
Sounds like fun!
And MAN am I getting sick of playing Golf or Billiards on my V3…
So yeah i’d play it!
Merry Christmas!

(sorry, couldn’t resist…)
Seconded (rather… thirded :D)
As ever, a thoughtful and exceptional post Moggy. It always amazes me how futile these missions were, early in the war, with the collective backs of Britain against the proverbial wall, and how the crews could essentially climb into their coffins night after night to bomb a target far from home, that served little purpose in the grand scheme of things. Lest we all forget.
