Well said Kev35. Exactly hit the nail on the head. My grand-dad was a POW in Japan and was tortured in the most horrific ways; marks of which still remain on him today.
Japanese society lived by the sword, had they ever managed to get an atomic bomb i have no doubt that they would have used it on the civilian population.
Similarly, the Japanese would have fought to the death of their last schoolgirl, and contrary to popular belief, the Allied Armed Forces sent there to die were NOT volunteers; they were conscripted men from all walks of life. Before the war, my Grand-dad ran a sweetshop. Given the choice, most would have gone home and to hell with the war.
The Atomic bombs saved my grand-dads life, and personally (note that word) i feel no regret for their usage in the war.

No aviation for me this weekend aside from maybe finding some videos and contributing on the forum! On Saturday i think iv got an overtime shift at work (time and a half aint bad!) Then i may wash my beloved motorcycle and give her a good WD40-ing if theres time.
Sunday is MY day- no work of any sort. Perhaps planning my roadtrip to see the missus in Norfolk on the monday, may have a gig in the evening at my mates Pub. Should be a good weekend!

Nothing wrong with Harleys mate, my dad loving refers to my LTD 454 as the “Double H” as in Hairdressers Harley.
That reminds me- i need to wash her today, before the salt sets in after my voyage from the Isle Of Man a few days ago. Otherwise, knowing the Sakakrapy’s build quality there’ll be nothing left of her!!!

ageorge -pillion on an RC30? The Honda which does 80mph in 1st gear with no rear seat or rear pegs? God why don’t you just throw him into a skip full of needles and have done with it? 🙂
What a beautiful Duke you have though! My dream bike would be a Kawasaki ZX-6R, or a KTM Duke II. My dad’s got several old Triumphs, which i’ve ridden the Bonneville and the Trident (both amazingly beautiful machines- even if they do leak oil regularly)
I started on a 1968 Honda 50 tht was my DAD’s 1st bike- then progressed to the Kawasaki KH125, which i took my test on- then jumped on my beloved Kawasaki LTD 454 as seen above and have never looked back.

I first went pillion with my dad at age 6 on a hell of a more rickety machine than that gorgeous Triumph, (In fact it was a Triumph Trident T160). In my opinion, as long as he is comfortable and can reach around you for support (or the bull handles) and place feet flat on the pegs, there shouldn’t be a problem. However- you may like to look for some goggles for the poor lad, and for Gods sake make him wear some more suitable clothes!! Those shoes look like they’re plastic and you can see bare skin by his ankles. Not nice in a crash… trust me… i know.
But my parental act aside -i hope you and your son will have many hours riding fun together, as i certainly did- and it’s now opened a whole new world of transport for me. He’ll thank you when all the girls are going weak at the knees because you turn up to school on one of these:

I echo that Rlangham!!! Wasn’t the best exerience. Wow, it looks like XV229 links 3people on this Forum. It was an amazing flight- i took over the controls whilst flying over the North Sea during a Submarine hunt exercise i think. My CCF logbook is now framed on that page- BAe Systems Nimrod MR2 – XV229 – 2hours 29minutes.

Chavs are funny to annoy. There are so many around here who try and show off in their cars. One guy started making ‘comments’ about my fiancee when he didnt think i was listening. So i quietly poured his pint (of strongbow no less) into his lap to cool off his burning loins. He jumped up and started mouthing off, ending up in pulling his LIGHTER from his kappa trousers and motioning rather badly as to what he was going to do to me. Luckily, being in the pub with the entire 1st and 2nd XV rugby sides of my ex-school has advantages; namely that when he saw the combined might of the scrum heading his way he decided to run and cower behind his girlfriend (who was a nice girl before becoming involved with him).
On another occasion myself and several other like-minded individuals went camping in a local wood. At about 2AM the chavs arrived and started burning things and listening to their stereos very loudly. Being all in Army uniform (mixture of OTC,ACF,ATC and CCF) we decided to spoil their fun by running in on the lot of them screeming “BRITISH ARMY! FREEZE!! DOWN ON THE GROUND!!” and plasticuffing them for a while. I’m sure at least 2 of them cacked themselves. I know its a little extreme- but its the only way they’ll learn, and they’re never going to find me!!! If your ever in Pontypool or Monmouth- ask about the VPS… most people will know what you mean
