What i thought was appalling was the way that Blair jumped on the bandwagon after not returning from his holiday (apparently he works in between these little breaks, you know) and takes the reigns of the appeal like the little wretch that he is (sorry to any Blairites out there but my view is as good as your view). Utterly abhorant and ignorant.

Hmm yes that is a poser… It is all something to do with the fact that some Americans (not all) simply will not trust something that wasnt manufactured in America, and somehow that all European and Asian et al products are inferior. So what they do is to order an aircraft/system and MODIFY it so slightly that it doesnt affect it but so significantly that it warrants a new designation and then name it as an AMERICAN built product. Ie the Goshawk – Hawk with carrier landing capability etc. Perhaps someone more knowlegeable about this particular field can comment. But i agree that it sucks.

Syphoning petrol out of one fuel tank into another with a thick, translucent hose. Me and my mate giving me a fighting chance on getting the bike to the petrol station.
“Just tell me when the fuel reaches the top of the hose, then i can stop sucking on the pipe” says i.
“No problem mate… wow look at the totty over th…”
    *Splutter and gag*
I then retch all over the road as i have just swallowed a lung full of unleaded. NOT IMPRESSED. Easily the worst thing to drink.

Infinity is TECHNICALLY the largest number possible. And not infinity plus one or anything because you cannot put a definite on a possible.

Just fit a seat to a Merlin, fueltank and wings. That would be a ride and a half… But i supose with a VERY gentle movements it could work in a Tiger Moth. However, it would need to be fitted with a nose wheel or a VERY heavy tail wheel to counter the massive weight…
JDK – would the Ju-52 be in Luftwaffe colours and have paratroopers? Could prove interesting…

Very interesting and informative postings, these. I have to say that i am with Hatton on the difference in treatment of Germans/Japanese. It is all very confusing that in this day and age the Japanese apparently do not speak of the war, or educate their children. In school the other day i happened to be printing a worksheet whilst in a GCSE class. One boy was actually trying to defend the actions of the Japanese towards prisoners of war. When asked about how he could do such a thing, he said, and these are his EXACT words:
“Well it looked like nice conditions in The Great Escape – we were never taught about the war, only that it was bad, and should never happen again.”
With attitudes like that (of denial) it is truely a frightening enditement of a nation.
With regard to the re-enactors, History is written by the victors, so when in Europe im sure that the victorious P-51 would have more significance to the spectators than the Zero/Me109 etc. However, perhaps after the Zero/Me109 limps away, perhaps they should fly together in formation over the crowdline to act as a “all friends now” signifier.
My personal experience of war games is, at best, patchy. I own MOH, Battlefield 1942 and Call of Duty. I don’t expect many of you have playd these games or even have seen the videos on a games mag or anything, but i have to say that i play them to conquer the Nazi’s. Not to kill/maim/destroy a particular German/Japanese person, but to help my Grandfather’s side battle through El Alamain for example. I do not believe that these games glorify war, but instead allow a generation who would maybe not be interested with modern history to find out about the Second World War. Just my view.
