you should tell that to him, it is easy to know who he is as the article s from Defesanet. But of course i guess you know better than a test pilot former FAB officer who flew around 100 types (including Rafale and F/A 18 E/F)… The missiles indicated are AASM so max range is around 60 Kms.
Btw why don’t you take a look at the air superiority config??? It clearly states a COMBAT time at max range.
All quoted radii of F-18E F-35, Rafale are meaningless in real life scenarios

I wouldn’t be surprised if Egypt is getting help in paying for them, & I expect that there won’t be any increase in the number of types. Some old aircraft will go.
Why do you think Cheikh Bin Zayed from EAU is in Paris today?
That said, a french official commentator denied that financing was agtreed on monday night by Sissi imperator. He stated that their would be more talks for some days.
Egyptian F-16 are limited (no AMRAAM for ex), their M2K are getting old. second hand T1 could have been a solution, but would lack A2G capabilities (that could be needed in Sinai, Lybia, Sudan). 2000-9 could have been another solution but i guess Egypt want bigger payload, AASM (not integrated on EAU M2K) and other goodies.
Time will tell.
From the Aviation Week article, it would appear to be so if one gives more credibility to French defense procurement chief Laurent Collet-Billon than to the Indian representatives:
I have to ask, though, why French defense procurement chief Laurent Collet-Billon should be involved in an export contract.
Because DGA is not only a procurement agency. It is the agency that defines technical capabilities of any weapon in France.
TY, but i’ll wait for ink to dry. Good news is Egypt just declined russian military “help”.
Colet-Billon (CEO of DGA) spoke about “days” for Egypt.
Cheikh Bin Zayed is in Hollande bureau with french MoD at this very moment.
Complete black out from Dassault communication service.
Well, that makes sense, a classic case of “too many cooks spoil the broth”.
What’s telling though, is the lack of news. Maybe that’s just caution, but it does leave room for speculation not only about the outcome of the deal, but also about whether the negotiations themselves are still continuing.
Negociations are continuing. An Indian team was in PAris in jenuary, aswell as a Rafale team delegation went to Delhi recently (and is back)
Egypt approved Rafale purchase according to “Le Monde”
I think you forgot Brazil and Switzerland… Ouch!
In more positive news, the Indian PM is being taken, er, offered a ride on the Rafale 😀 first-pm-modi-may-fly-fighter-jet-rafale
In less positive news the French foreign minister is in India for 3 days but apparently won’t discuss the Rafale? france-chooses-to-downplay-rafale-deal-negotiations-trouble
Ride was further denied.
French foreign minister not to discuss Rafale has historic reasons : there’s been a political war between him and french MoD about who is to manage weapon exports. MoD won and fabius was told to stfu.
Afaik the news about 2000F for Columbia were wrong. It may be refurbished RDI? (the article is mentioning SAR capabilities, RDY of -5F do not have this function) or foreign country’s 2000 (UAE or Greece)?
5-F airframe is to be prolonged to 8000 hours.
-D will be rapidly modernized.
price gouging the indians is anything but a fact….
Citizenship of an oil-rich country 🙂
You need to play handball and go to Qatar 😉

Do not forget Egypt turbulent neighbour, Libya…
Indian or locally built?
