Egyptian F-16 are limited (no AMRAAM for ex), their M2K are getting old. second hand T1 could have been a solution, but would lack A2G capabilities (that could be needed in Sinai, Lybia, Sudan). 2000-9 could have been another solution but i guess Egypt want bigger payload, AASM (not integrated on EAU M2K) and other goodies.

Afaik the news about 2000F for Columbia were wrong. It may be refurbished RDI? (the article is mentioning SAR capabilities, RDY of -5F do not have this function) or foreign country’s 2000 (UAE or Greece)?
5-F airframe is to be prolonged to 8000 hours.
