French defense minister announced a fifth tranche order in january. And the amount of study plans being launched recently are somehow a clue that there will be more orders (PEAs LEA, TRAGEDAC, MELBAA…). We still have several mirage squadrons (2000-D and -5) to be replaced.
According to latest declarations of the minister, SRSAM (is it the same as Maitri?) is still being co developed.
AFAIK the terms of the deal were all spelled out in the RFP. Dassault knew the risks when it decided to participate and probably quantified them as an insurance markup on its bid. But to try and renegotiate the terms after being selected for exclusive negotiations will obviously be unacceptable to the Indian MoD.
AFAIK, and despite some indian press assumptions Dassault liability for HAL built planes wasn’t in RFP. (source : high ranked Dassault executive furing Le Bourget 2013)
ASRAAM do not need rail launch?
Surprise, surprise, surprise! Bombs are dropped in only 1 of every 4 combat sorties. ISIS is doing a great job hiding within Iraq’s Sunni population. A blind man could have seen that one coming.
US adds air power but ISIS presents elusive target
They knew that, the aim is to destroy infrastructure, and logistics… Recently a modern fighter even had to strife some Toyota…
Excellent description of TRAGEDAC study plan on Rafale 😉
Yet it was JUST argued that Isreali Politicians don;t “KNOW”, haven;t been briefed…..so, what is it?……by the previous few posts, ALL “partners” ( funny that..Partners, like anyone had ANY say…just give us money and shut up….)get 10,000 pages of info a month….so I guess that would mean that the Israeli Politicians ( likely FAR more informed and involved militarily than ANY other Nation in the world, seeing as EVERY ONE of them will have served in the Military at one time) MUST therefore be fully aware and briefed, despite what comments get made….
So an VERY experienced and informed Israel has KNOWINGLY and willingly refused to increase the order…. I wonder why?…..
ONE of the reasons is the denial to acess source codes
others? influence US politics in middle east, cost/capability?
Yet you have negated to mention the FACT that as to this date, CANADA has recieved NO actual information on “Capabilities”, NO testing was done , NO competition was arranged, the Government has been CAUGHT on numerous occasions attempting to buy the planes ILLEGALLY ( contrary to Canadian Purchasing rules), with blatant lies about costing, investigations done by the Nation’s Auditor General found the whole thing to be full of inconsistancies and outright fabircations.
So perhaps the “Politicians” may or may not be “Briefed” on Capabilities of the F35, yet neither is the Military been offically “Briefed” either. And for ANY military to honestly say that it is “THE BEST CHOICE” is rubbish, as NOT ONE is in active service, NOT ONE has flown an actual mission and it is all purely conjecture at this point. THE ONLY “capability” that the F35 offers Nations that OTHER options do not, can not, is “Stealth”…..that is it….every other “feature” or “Capability” can be accomplished by add on equipment, upgrades and almost all current options ARE being so upgraded right now….SO, if being “Stealthy” is THE biggest requirement, then sure, the F35 is the ONLY CHOICE…
NOT ONE Canadian has stepped forward and put their “name” on any such “Statement” the the F35’s ” are needed”…..in fact, the opposite has been occuring….early reports from Top Brass said it was THE choice….but again, that was a lie and fabrication as has been proven by the lack of testing / competition, the investigation into the fabricated finances and out right lies to the Government…..so SORRY, your post including Canada in is utterly wrong.
The opposition is due to the fact that it is extremely expensive ( especially if you have to buy the Engines etc to go in it…lol)…NO actual performance / capabilities have EVER been done with / against other contenders in any Nation’s “open competition”…and out right BS and lies and fabrications and dirty, illegal, back door attempts at getting them contrary to National acquisition rules and laws and having been caught doing it…..maybe THAT is why there is “Opposition” politically to them
Sorry, but Canada sent RFI – and got answers- from several sources. The way Harper’s gov. tried to secretely procure 4 F-35 as a step in the doorby means a lot.
There was the NL competirion… F35 won, but on false price estimations, false expected capabilities and only by the slightest margin. i can add a chart if you wish.
Btw, not in the competition and very expensive to maitain, but imho F15 SE would fit the best.
I’ve never heard that said on the forum. What has been said on the other hand, is how the F-35 will eventually cost less than the Rafale (<$85 mil at FRP), thus making a preferable alternative for any country willing to wait till 2018-19.
Todays statement from Dassault CEO : for the price NL paid 37 F-35 they could have acquired 85 Rafales.
Looks like they’re working on unifying radar, EW and ESM/ELINT & coms systems (English):
Everyone is 😉 but 2020 seems very optimistic to me.
Sagem just did the same with their Patroller drone
Some AASM shots in Irak. 6 Mirage 2000D heading to jordania.
indiscretion, no clue nor source. A certain french bomb kit may be adapted to F-35. That was the aim of the F-16 trial, compatibility with the UAI
Anyone already posted that? (Vianney Riller nterview, a brazilian independent test pilot who flew Gripen testbed) (subtitled)
probably yes, aswell as high speed directional datalink. And sharing sensor datas so as to network sensors from different planes.
About B301, my bad, there is NO available photo of satcom (on purpose). It was B302 during the formation flight.
Any ews about the inquiry commission Maurobaggio? (composition etc.)
