Agree with you Aereo. Btw, as we are talking about euro planes, lil info about UCLASS. BAE/Dassault is opened to foreign countries “as soon as a firm dev program is established”, and french requirement is it should be carrier capable.
I didnt intend to bash typhoon, thats why it took me a bunch of time (apart from holidays) to check that Rafale were using a new spectra updaye vs old Captor M software during joint warrior.
PS. Give a hand to your training ground (A2G) boys, they do tremendous job! (you know what i mean)

Yes and no. Everything is in the balance between A2A and A2G. Different point of views… Anw (i was open to talk…) , Captor M DID need software upgrade. Previous (drop i think, complicated as you talk about EF evolutions) drop werent able to lock Rafale a single time during joint warrior, even in WVR. Plz notice i’m talking about older software and repeating what i was told!

Look, i’m found of F18. Re read what you quoted, IAF had nothing to do with offsets. Talked with USS Eisenhower pilot recently. “Rafale is the first plane designed by pilots for pilots”.

Agree with Sintra except on very poor landing gear geometry ( for A2G). Not to talk about Canards position)

Checked with Dassault official, the 1 billion euros in Programmation law are for next F3-R standard, not for an F4. Wondering what will be inside apart from already described…

As far as boeing accepted to answer to rfp they agreed with ToT rules… They lost on technical evaluation (around 700 criteria). For ex F18 had issues in high altitude hot weather tests at Leh airbase.

2 years ago… since new aws 360, degs, aesa radar imporoved spectra. And f18 lost despite all these advantages… some other thiings arent so good then

There arent any unwillingness for ToT or whatever from Rafale consortium (not only Dassault) (there’s been some from Thales in UAE, another story). Problem about responsability is solved for long. The problem is to determine each indian subcontractor (remember there are 500 in France for ex) , and they are ALL identified for months now, capability to absorb tech, at which speed, with how many help? Mix that with industrialization process (each part, be it french or indian must arrive right in time) and ramping up of indian input, multiply per the number of contracts (one for each subcontractor), and you will get an idea of the complexity of the process. ToT is not simply blueprint, but about acquisition of process, quality control etc.

Gazelle is very poorly protected. It was intended to shoot at Warsaw Pact tank, then hide. Very agile system, but not what expect modern forces. (See recent death of Cpt Boiteux in Mali). More suited to spec ops then anything els now.

What it performs? Sry to my german friends, but the kidnapping of aerospace industry by Germany. Near no tech input since the creation of EADS, but now even space activities will be led from Germany… (kidding of course)
