Very interesting concept gaps between Rafale/F35 (“omniroles”), Tempest+SCAF (modular plane playing i guess many roles in a SCAF) , ANGE (Avion de Nouvelle GEnération, officious nickname) : very different assets each plaing its role.

Not to mention F-22, J20, SU57 (tips of the spears”)

Pogossian was an engineer? Sure he wasn’t a businessman?

I said “not exactly”. First the item is mainly an injector second blocking waves from turbines is fine, but to what degree and what would be the global efficiency? (not to mention the flux managemnt pbs). It is just the term “blocker” id ont like.

I mean it is not its primary function. Smart move to improve stealth from the rear btw.

Good thing both F-35 and F-22 GaN upgrade is just around the corner!!

Did not mean that. However GaN modules are reportedly present on Gripen E electronic war suite aswell as tile architecture modules on F3R version of Spectra. Remember that old Thales scientific ppt? Distributed apertures are on their way for Rafale (i’d say not before MLU aka 2030 or about btw.)

A stealthiness augmentor composed of curved vanes ejectors is not exactly the same thing as a radar blocker.

Multiple array is something new. It can only be mounted on larger class fighter due to power and space issues.

Lets wait and judge about this shall we..

GaN incoming should allow lower power space issues. Tile architecture modules aswell for space issues.

This bodes not well for the use of twin racks on inner wing pylons I guess – if you want to carry 4 Meteors. The easy solution is not to carry Meteors on the forward fuselage stations.

    However, carrying 4 meteors on a A2G mission… Dubious.

I fervently hope that the swapping in & out of modules will work better than on LCS. Perhaps it would be better to speak of the StanFlex of the skies, since that actually works.

There could be an issue in combined use of Meteor and GBU48 on Eurofighter

They are already being designed do that by the developers who are pushing out upgrades to 4th and 5th generation aircraft. Things like MADL, LCAAT/Loyal-Wingman, distributed C2, swarming and high speed, jam resistant comms and PNT is being very agressively pursued, and invested in by those also pushing 5th generation investments. These things go hand in hand.

That is certainly true, but tue idea bhind scaf is not to wat to include everything in a single platform in order to disminish the compromises. They are even wondering if UCAV should or not be ale to deliver amrmament (despite neueon having shot GBU in Sweden). Quite the reverse of Rafale and F-35 concepts btw.

    2. Gripen E will have this capability only in a light config (i.e., a2a with 4 a2a missiles).

Well apart from the “push” would it be useful ? So mostly for long range interception no?

Supercruise wasn’t a requirement afaik. The main idea behind the Gripen E was increased range, at least initially. More new stuff was added over time.

TBH, SAAB largely publicized on supercruise capability vs F-35 (due to F-135 mainly).
