    New EODAS unit has 5x the resolution of Gen1 EODAS {at 55% of the cost & 5x reliability}

    Let me guess.. I thought EODAS was already a magic pixie dust? All this advertisements for a poor stuff (next one will have 5 times the resolution…) And BEFORE it is developed, it already has 5x the reliability? Awesome…

    To control drones means robot swarms. So, whats the problem? It means that the new fighter may be used maned and unmaned controlled by a maned aircraft, or many unmaned in a swarm with a swarm of drones and so on. Thats much more than a wanabee F-35.

    Don’t expect more sense from some…

    Bart de Wever, head of NVA party (same as the mindef) declared that Rafale was of no use for Belgium… This involvement is a loud signal of politicization of the deal.

    I understand your point Garry A, but generally speaking screwing radars use much less energy than simply blanking them. Thats my point. Is the power needed rate limiting for drfm based jamming?

    if we’re talking about the ability of the f-35 to perform defensive jamming with no loss of radar function then it’s absolutely possible. As the aircraft has a passive RCS roughly 1/2000th of a loaded legacy airframe such as a Rafale, only a tiny fraction of the power is needed to conceal it.

    This WAS true for brutal jamming. The power to be emitted depends on the power expected to be received by the opponent. Far more complex to estimate. Generally speaking on offensive modes one tries to avoid any EM emission. Complex factors… AFAIK the bes tquality of APG 81 is its Agile beam forming capabilities. Of course, at certain points low RCS will make things easier. But less than say 20 years ago.

    Look i did not mean that X or Y is able or unale to efficiently jam and dete t/track at the same time. I just mean that in most cases it is a very difficult task and it is better if the antenna is physically divided in “subantennas” able to perform different tasks simultaneously.

    You cannot interleave anything between emission and reception of reflected signal because do not know how long the return will be. (or on very pculiar modes). However you can either interleave between modes (but letting the whole process each time you change your mode, or emit at some azimuths receive at all…) or physically divide the antenna between e.g. Emitting and receiving modules etc.

    No diffusion, just didn’t remember specific parts of the RFGP.

    My apologizes if you felt offended, wasn’t targeting you at all.

    I’m sure US RFPs say the same thing yet there are laws that govern these types of programs which is why we have a process in the US where losers can protest if they think something violated one of these laws

    And lose if they’re not US (cf KC46….) hilarious. Nvm, european laws have specific contents for defense markets yhat are more flexible than general governement markets (e.g. offsets more or less allowed).

    Since the APG-81 can jam and still function as a radar there must be a way to interleave their functionality

    No. Think about it : you must way for signal to return without emitting with the same antenna.
    AP-81 antenna may be able to use it depending on modes using “physically” separed antenna (using a block to emit/receive for detection, another to jam).

    In all seriousness, I would think this gives legal grounds for Eurofighter and L-M to contest any decision on the Rafale.

    Absolutely not, this is stated in the RFPG. The RFPG do not engage Belgium governement in any matter.
