Focke Wulf Fw190 A8/M D-FMFW
Yeaaahhh …. first flight of the Focke Wulf Fw190 A8/M D-FMFW with the revised 3-blader and optimized maingear. Everything went absolute perfect and the team is very happy …. I am a bit sad, cause the plane will leave Germany soon via Virginia to the Fighter Factory …. congrats Jerry, its a fantastic fighter and I will miss the Focke Wulf 😥

Marc “Leon” Mathis at the controls

Great news. Is she fitted with the Kommandogerat and does it work ?
A BMW801 will not work without the Kommandogeraet !
Fantastic project ! Hope I will see this bird in the air sometimes

Yakovlev Yak-3 D-FLAK
The plane was under restauration nearly the whole year. Some bodywork, engine revision, new paint … and so on. Lot of work, but in January 2011 the D-FLAK is ready for the next sortie.
Btw. Steven Atkin “Warbirdcolour services UK” did a fulminant job on that plane. In my eyes the D-FLAK is the most authentic Yak-3 I´ve ever seen. Congrats Steven, that was really a top-job !

Lot of work for the team, especially for the “bodywork”. To rebuild the plane to series -5 standard is really a hard job for the team ….

not really a beauty but a very intersting airplane. For airshows the rear cockpit will be covered. Its a thing of minutes and the plane looks like a “normal” Mk.IX. For training flights you will have a perfect double seater … great thing !

Ramon, its a pleasure to me !
Dear Matthias,
I enter this forum recently, so I can what Meiers brothers and Maxi are doing on the YS and though I don’t like what they make of the french navy Corsair, what wonderfull and profesional job they make !
Mattias I have two questions on this restoration :
– what about the radar dome ?
– why the serial number is 123176 when the original nbr is 124541 ?Best regards from Avignon
Ramon
Hello Ramon,
its a big big pleasure that you are here in this forum and of course that you found my thread. In my eyes you are one the best Corsair-pilots ever. Your display at the Hyères airshow, was stunning, powerful, one the best displays ever seen with a Corsair. Thank for that !

1.) the radar dome … we have found many pictures of the “Flying Nightmares”-Corsair without the radome, especially the “19”.
2.) we did not found a perfect, unequivocal picture of the serial #124541. We (Steve Atkin and my person) discussed the scheme with Maxi and Achim and decided that we should paint the fighter after a perfect, contemporary picture. We found this picture displaying the “red 19”. Then of course we took the known serial of “red 19”, so its not a “look-alike”.

btw. you can also follow the developement of #124541 on the MeierMotors Homepage too
Nice pictures as usual, Matthias. Good to see another Warbird come to life in Germany. Although many people seem to like the bare metal finish, I personally do prefer a nice and beautifully painted a/c. But that is my personal opinion, good that owners will do as they like anyway, lol.
Michael
Yeah Michael,
I love those baremetal fighters cause the lack of colors reduces the plane to its form and style. It looks really perfect in the air, and baremetal fits to the Stang. In my opinion the baremetal finish does not “fit” to every plane, so a Corsair or even a Spitfire would be really ugly in baremetal …. but a Mustang …… I love it and if I had the money for such a bird I would leave it “naked” also, just to see and realise the perfect shape.
Do you know if there are any plans to repaint the Spitfire VIII? It would be nice to see it in a less glossy (and correct!) scheme!
Yes, there are some plans to repaint the fighter. I think Steve Atkin will do that job next year, so it will be perfect !
Here is a recent video of the aircraft at duxford.
Thank you very much !!! What a fantastic video, what a great display.
Is it possible to get this stunning video in high res ? Would be fantastic
