North American P-51 D-FPSI
That Mustang got a new livery and is now 4sale – hope she will get a good home again. The wartime bird was flown by 1.Lt.Wilbur Eaton with 4thFG

Yakovlev Yak-3 D-FYGJ
Besides the big restoration project, work is going on with maintenance jobs. So the beautiful Yak-3 D-FYGJ is getting her annual and some maintenance at the Allison engine. So I had again the chance for some nice insights in that beautiful engine

Steffen Petersen and Julian Heinrich at work

well some months later …. time for updates I think
At first lets talk about those Messerschmitt fighters – the “Black 1” went over der grand pont to Gerald Yagen´s Fighter Factory. She has not been flown yet, I think they are doing some conversions at the cirquit breakers to American style. The “Black 8” needs some work with the wings and undercarriage.

The G-12, belonging to the same collector – Hangar 10 on the island Usedom – is showing a good progress. Bodywork is done, now the team is adjusting all those wirings and tubes using the engine of “Black 8” as dummyengine. Oleg Ivlev is doing a fantastic job with that “trainer” ….. trainer, funny word dealing with a one-o-nine

and of course the magnificent Bf109 E 6.88 – some work with the fuselage is done

First rollout and first taxiing tests with the restored Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 “Black8” on 23th December 2015 – thats what we call a Christmas gift 🙂 …. a loud one – the owner travelled to South Germany from the island Usedom to watch that magic moment at MeierMotors and I think he was very very happy

again SeaFury – the huge 5-blader sits at his place

small SeaFury update – the cowling sits at its place – skintight

The P-51D N51AB , will say the “Ex-FlyingDutchman” got its new livery. Achim Meier did some testflights with that wonderful fighter and he was quite impressed. A fantastic well balanced fighter. Not long and the P-51 will be ferried to the new owner in Germany …. hope I can accompany Achim on the back seat

Messerschmitt Bf109 G-12 update
some work left

the cowling – work for sheetmetal-artists

impression

listen to the Centaurus sound
“Listen to that Centaurus sound” – I will never forget that sentence of the FlyingLegends speaker as the Royal Navy SeaFury buzzed over the Duxford airfield. Yes, that sound is really amazing, smooth and powerful.
Well, such a Cenaturus engine is now freshly restored in the MeierMotors shop. Mike Nixon´s radial shop delivered the perfect restored engine for the Hawker SeaFury project. What a beauty

and of course a lot of detail work on the fuselage / firewall

The “Lucky Lady VII” is undergoing some maintenance – I love that P-51. Fine restored, a lot of history …. yes she´s for sale but I hope she will stay here in South Germany

Here the fighter on the MeierMotors sales site
well, a small update concerning another restoration project of MeierMotors – maybe you remember the ditching of Fw190 A8M F-AZZJ in the birch of Hyeres summer 2011 ? Marc “Leon” Mathis had some problemes with the prop-drive (some issues with the hub/governor) and ditched the fighter in perfect manner. Of course some damage, but “Leon” didnt walk away …… he used a jetski as a passenger
The wreckage was salvaged some days later out of the salty water of the Mediterranian Sea and sold to MeierMotors. MeierMotors sold later the project to Hangar10 based on the island Usedom / Northern Germany. Well, as you also might know, hangar10 is running a wonderful collection and the partnership MeierMotors/Hangar10 brought some fantastic planes back to the azure –> TF-51, Spitfire T9, Griffon Spitfire TP280 and of course as current projects the Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 and G-12.

2010 the team was busy checking all the damages, cleaning the airframe from saltwater and later washed off the colors with corrosives

The restoration was going on since 2011 but not with highest priority – now in 2015 after a lot of work was done, the freshly restored AsH82 was delivered from Mike Nixon´s radial shop in Tehachapi and it was time to show that stunning project to the wider public

God, it isn’t half shifting along! Will certainly look forward to seeing this one finished.
Was there much/any damage to the wings in the initial accident?
of course some damage, but not really bad. The major damage was on the fuselage and of course the former Merlin engine. Because of that heavy damage the decision was made to build up that G-12. It will perfect in the Hangar10 collection beside the Spitfire T9. With the G-12 Hangar 10 is having “all” iconic fighters with dualcontrols –> TF51 “Little Ite” D-FUNN, Spitfire T9 D-FMKN and later Messerschmitt Bf109 G-12. And yes, the collection operates also the Griffon Spitfire TP280 and later on the Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 “Black8”.
Yes, breathtaking
small updates concerning the Messerschmitt Bf109 G-12 project – belonging to Hangar10 / Island Usedom
the project is coming fast along. The huge canopy is fitted to the fuselage, the DB605 mounted and work is going on with those complicated restorationworks at the upper cowling.

Messerschmitt nest at MeierMotors – in front the georgeous Bf109 G-4 D-FOON belonging to the FighterFactory Virginia

small update concerning the G-12 project for the Hangar10 collection. The huge canopy is nearly ready, but some work left. The engine fotr that project is under restoration at Vintage V12´s. This time its not a Mercedes Benz DB605 😉 its the licence product manufactured by Volvo used in the Saab J21. A fantastic engine, beautiful manufactured.
