Hi Matthias, do you know if the Sea Fury will be fitted with original target tow equipment inside and outside? Regards, SFF
really dont know – owners choice 😉 but I dont think so
Hi Mathias,
Thanks for the reply, it will look even better with the improved cowling, good luck and congratulations again!
Matt
well, just discussed that issue with Elmar and Erik Meier ….. well I am a banker, but not that 109 specialist as you guys here. so I will try to explain what the idea was, and what is historically correct … hope I can manage that
1.) Its of course not a G-2, its a G-4 according to the worksnumber and the original parts used with that project ….. my fault.
2.) radiator and radiator housing
a.) Bf109 had some temperature problems in hot areas as the African theatre, so several G-4 were equipped with the big radiator and radiator housing, later also used in the G-10. This is documented in the socalled “Verwendungsblatt Sonderausfuehrung” (free translated application-manual special edition) and also in some historic photographies. The bigger radiator was able to cool down the “access-oil-temperature” plus -10degrees than the smaller one. That kept the engine in healthy temperatures.
Thinking about the high temperatures in Virginia, the shop played that “joker” an reconstructed the G-4/trop special-edition-radiator for Virginia-use.
b.) in fact, if the temperatures are not so high in Virginia as thought, the shop is reconstruction the normal G-4 housing used over the Reich and at the Eastern Front. The smaller radiator housing fits better to the painting. But, safety and healthy of the super rare DB605 is the first choice and cool engines are running longer and better
Hope i explained it the right way ….. if not, we should talk about the SeaFury or the upcoming Focke Wulf project

Hi Matthias, congratulations! Does this 109 have the fo987 oil cooler fitted?
Many thanks
Matt
Yes Matt, but the team will reconstruct a (more) matching lower cowling with a smaller radiator like the G-4 had.
Thanks for the update, Matthias! Any work being done on the E-1?
no, not at that second. Work is going on on the G-12 project, the DB605 was delivered for the G-6 “Black 8” so also a lot of work here and finally some work with the Fiat G.55 and Seafury. The E-1 is a long term project, so no time pressure.
12th of August 2015 – Achim Meier took the chance and took some A2A shots from the Harvard Mk.IV D-FXXX with team member Ondra on the backseat. It was a thing of minutes “come on we take some pics” , small camera in the hand and scrambling the Harvard —- yes, they are a bit crazy those MeierMotors guys – but it worked !

Well that was something for the heart and soul – 10 years of work finished, really a milestone.

just forgotten – pretty small update. This week the team hopes to get the “permit to fly” for the Bf109 and Spitfire TP280. Than both birds will take the sky … hope so. Friday, Achim Meier did some taxing tests again and everything went perfect again. The Bf109 is qeuipped with disc-brakes and so the groundhandling is pretty fine.
And another ship is in town. The wonderful Waco awating maiden with German Reg. Stunning and very beautiful aircraft

well ….. Iam kind of speechless, I am completely touched and really dont know what I should say …. Thank you mate, thats really a big big surprise and a big honor. Its really the first time in my life to get such a feedback for my “work”. In German it would be very easy to tell you now my emotional state, but in a foreign language is more than difficult. It really concerns me. My goal was every time to share pictures and experiences with fans and friends cause we are all one community loving those old birds. All the more suprising to get such a precious feedback. Thank you very much !
I will be at the Legends on Friday and Saturday and I hope I can see better meet you over there – and ouf course the Duxford-Duck will be with me

Messerschmitt Bf109 G-2 D-FOON – Fighter Factory
well – I took the chance to climb into the iconic fighter and Elmar took some shots …. okay, I think he was a bit nervous as I asked him, which knob I should pull for the starter :dev2:

It was a very special feeling and of course a big honor for me. Meanwhile its the year 7 that I follow this project …
Hiya enthusiasts & friends,
back from EDTG and I tell you, it was absolute perfect with Bf109 D-FOON. All systems worked perfect, 2600rpm with 1,3Ata – what a sound
Elmar did some taxiing tests, brake tests and at least a power run

Erik Meier at work – preparing testruns
