Can we have some updates on TP280 pleaseMatthias?
for sure – the team has put all the things together, first ground runs were made. Days of thunder – the Griffon is really a monster. My old friend Jamie Pluck together with Andrew Butcher from Skycraft Propellers (sorry that I missed you guys at EDTG) was over there and took some beautiful shots of TP280 running. Jamie is really an artist and took some really fantastic pictures in the shop. Heres one of them, copyright by Jamie of course

Not to steal Matthias’s thunder or anything, but the Meier dudes have posted a couple of pics of the Fighter Factory ‘109 project looking very complete with the engine running.
Here we are, here we go – sorry for the delay, I had to watch ACDC yesterday at Hockenheim Cirquit :dev2::highly_amused:
…… and so not really the time, but youre right, the shop made a first roll out with the 99% completed Bf109. What a fantastic bird and I am pretty happy that Jerry approved my idea to paint her with the markings of Hauptmann Klaus Quaet-Faslem served with I./JG 3 “Udet”. The RLM 74/75/76 painture shows the design of the Bf109 in a wonderful clarity without any folderol. And yes, Elmar did some engineruns again and heยดs very happy with all those things. Now the team is going to make some taxiing trials on the grass runway to check the groundhandling. After that its time for maiden flight. I hope they will manage the first flight in May and I hope I could be there

4 years of hard work are coming to an end. Well … to answer your questions in advance ๐
1.) I really dont know, wether the One-O-Nine will visit England or the Legends (I am praying for it, yes, that would be one of the big moments in my life)
2.) yes, the one-o-nine will be delivered as fast as possible to the Fighter Factory Virginia – Jerry and the whole team is waiting for her (I can that imagine really), so she will not stay in the European theatre
3.) the German reg is D-FOON , will say F=aircraft with Mtow biger than 2,5tons up to 5 tons OON = One-O-Nine
4.) testflying is required – they need 5 hours in the air before handing-over to Jerry
and yes, there are still 3 one-o-nine left in the shop – and yes part 2, thats the best foreum worldwide, thank you for beeing a small part of the community
my most favorite plane in the shop – the mighty Chance Vought F4U-5NL Corsair D-FCOR. That particular serial was engaged in the Korean War and fought with the “Flying Nightmares” VMF-513 about 80hours over Kunsang.
The fighter is undergoing some maintenance preparing the saison 2015. The Black Beauty will join the Flying Legends 2015

lets talk about the G-12 project. As told, MeierMotors is converting the Ex-Kindsvater Buchon after a taxiing incident at the airfighter academy on the island Usedom to a Messerschmitt Bf109 G-12 with dualcontrol. She will get a swedish licence build DB605 and will be the only dualseater worlwide. MeierMotors got the chance to measure out an Avia licence build G-12. So the team is able to reconstruct all those bits and specs. One of the major problems is the fuel consumption of the DB605. In war, the G-12 flew with an external centerline 300ltr-fueltank. External stores are forbidden in Germany, so the team has to “construct” a fuel cell in the fuselage. Not the easiest job.
these days, the sheetmetalworkes reengeneered the rudderpost, cause the “original” rudderpost is shaped wrong. As you might know, the rudder posts of all Bf109 are aerodynamical shaped to work against the torque of the DB605. Most of the Buchons are having a “wrong shaped” rudderpost.

the same with the fin

ready

Fiat G.55 project update
well, the sheetmetal team is working on the wingconstruction – the fighter is having a very sophisticated wingcontruction, so a lot of timeconsuming detailwork

to be continued
SeaFury D-CACE assembling the outer wings – teamwork at its best

It will need a bit of work. Those flexi hoses will be 23 years old this year! Still, it’s wearing better than me.
It was Historic Flyings third completed restoration, and the oldest one now left.
Yes, right you are, some work left indeed
“Black 8” having some engine trouble?
No, not really, minor problems but nothing special. Prority is lying on the G-12, thats all
Pity Galland is dead, Germany can’t be far from owning that Staffel of Spitfires now!
Adrian
well ๐ in fact its No4 Spitfire in the shop …. of course there are 4 Bf109 too ….. we can jump with both staffel over the cliffs, topcover could be made by 4 P-51 ๐ think that would be quite impressive. just kidding
so here we are here we go, Spitfire TP280 has landed in the MeierMotors shop …..some work to do. The fighter will get a german reg and will be ferried to the Hangar10 collection on the island Usedom / Northern Germany.
Well, the shape of those lowback-teardrop-Griffon-Monsters is not my style, I miss the clear Spitfire lines, but the engine is really stunning. Such a big piece of iron. Huge exhauststacks, nearly no place to work on. An “funny” thing, that poor pilot is surrounded by fuel. Tank in front, in the back and in the wings leftยดn right.

in the paint shop for minor work

Those guys from Skycraft were also in the shop, so Jamie Pluck and Andrew Butcher took a look at the five-blader (sorry that I missed you guys, we will see us when you will bring that prop back)

Latest News
as posted from Oxcart, they had a first run with full power with Yagenยดs onehundrednine – later more, but yes I still have goosbumps allover
But another stunning news is that : Supermarine Spitfire MK XVIII (N280TP) will arrive soon in the shop for restoration and obverhaul. New owner is Hangar10 (island Usedom) and they ordered MeierMotors to bring the fighter back into the air

Wow a Griffon-Spit I am a bit exited
Yakovlev Yak-3 D-FLAK is going to Great Britain
2013, the fighter is prepared for the season

that beauty belongs now to Will Greenwood and she will be seen in the british circuit soon …… well, I am a bit sad, cause that Yak is/was my link to the MeierMotors story. On the other hand I know Will ๐ he is really a fine guy and a wonderful pilot. My D-FLAK will be in best hands …. and Will promised while we were drinking some beers in the OX pub at Heitersheim that he will take care. Will, if you read this ….. I am watching you ๐
good news bad news …. well for you pretty goog news, for me bad news.
The magnificent Yakovlev Yak-3 D-FLAK is having a new owner. In my eyes the best Yak-3 with full dual controls is leaving the Eagles Nest and ist heading to Great Britain. I had my first contact with that particular Yak-3 in 2005 at a small airshow in Freiburg/Germany and it was my first contact with the Meier brothers.
2007 the next “meeting” – 100years Freiburg airfield (EDTF) with Marc “Leon” Mathis at the controls
2010 some work with the powerful Allison engine and a profound restoration.

what a beauty

DB605 – open heart
last but not least …. the fuel injection pump produced by BOSCH (mechanic 12-punch type PZ12HP 10/19) was able to provide up to 80bar pressure. Fuel consumption from 140 up to 400 litres/hour
