POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM
Sitting here in snowy Ottawa discussing this problem with an RCAF CF18 pilot over a bottle of Alberta Gold rye, we think we have a quick solution…….
1] build pile of UNINIFLATED tractor/lorry tyre inner tubes below the front leg
2] inflate tubes one at a time, until firm contact is made
3] wait for snow to melt,or remove snow
4] reverse steps 1 and 2
how much more do you need?

….nowhere did i say that carbon dating test proves it to be a fake…….however, taking all of the information available to us:-tangmeres description and pics of a know genuine example, his experience of handling originals, possible textural inaccuracies in script type [that’s pen ,pencil ,biro ,typed etc etc] grammatical, inconsistency, and content .
added to a patently untrue account from the vendor of a dating test submission,[which any testing laboratory/museum would have pointed out to him was not the correct test type for dating this sort of material]
we are now in a position to review authenticity of the artifact ,using valid proven data and other examples as the comparison criteria
The page in question shows many inconsistencies when compared with known originals, the vendor has tried to substantiate the originality of his object by using dubious tests.
i could go on further but to some up
IF it quacks like a duck,looks like a duck ,has feathers like a duck,and the carbon14 trace analysis of a duck…….its a ***** duck
bottom line,if you are going to collect, learn your subject, back it up with as much extra learning as you can, do the apprenticship…….otherwise pay for your hearts desire and shut up.
THEM IS IS A FAKE
Not going to go into a diatribe on carbon dating…..but if the statement about the paper being submitted for a test was truely made by the vendor,he has answered all our questions…..ITS A FAKE…NOT A COPY BUT A FAKE.
The reference carbon concentration set for test results is the year 1950,the inaccuracies in the test CANNOT give you any sort of “date” with the accuracy required needed to prove that the paper is of 1939 manufacture [for use in 1940] what a shame he did not know his history, his chosen subject and anything about science
jdk no probs
jdk no offence taken in fact just the reverse …gave me a chance to give a reasoned argument for my case

Interesting to see that the Japs fabricated the crank case ,from steel components welded together…..makes heavy ali alloy castings look a bit old school
CREAKING DOOR…..Look at the second video carefully ,you can see the weld bead and its “uneven ” width holding the “outer face ring”.if this was a drop forging tool shut line i would have shot the tool makers.
As to your other suggestions you cannot have it both ways either its a machined forging or its machined from the solid [billet]
LANCASTER PROJECT …parts
Well the Canadian winter is almost over, been rather nice to wade through three feet of snow to the workshop….and here are the latest bits…..glad the seat is finally assembled it just needs painting the upholstery is being made by a friend, the wonderful lads in Toronto [FM104] made an excellent job on riveting the seat pan together ….Ill post pics of that later, there’s a couple of sets of extra parts for the seat pan assembly here ….. a few evenings have been spent with large sheets of paper and the making of formers should start soon…thought i would start at the front and work backwards
If any one has questions or wants to chat…pm me
My good friend Mike died at the beginning of the year, miss his humour ,knowledge and hrlp
This might help a bit, looks like training in an Anson
Looks like trade must be bad for poor “VONGOLD” ,he could only afford to purchase one set of the special offer dubious AM ink stamps….silly boy always buy a selection,it helps confuse the uninitiated and lazy .
The prop spinner mention by “Creaking Door” came off of a Dornier 17 which crashed onto Victoria station in London.
Oh I know what it looks like and where it goes
Peter that one more “bit” than I have at the moment….
Like to thank you all for the comments, long way to go yet .Wonder if I might put out a cry for help locating pilots windscreen parts/castings.They are going to be a bitch to replicate, any help, leads or even original parts would be so welcome.I can then fit the cockpit glasshouse frame.[Yep its made ]Just waiting on those frames
Project has one main aim [which it appears to be achieving] ,to occupy more of the garage space ,and there by to p%%% the wife off
