“Is it true that during the late 60’s Australia donate the F-86 Sabre to the Royal Malaysian Air Force and the TNI-AU?”
Yes. The CA-27s were sold/given to both the RMAF and TNI-AU.
“If they did how many airframes did Australia delivered?”
The TNI-AU got 18 from Australia in 1973 and 5 from Malaysia in 1976 to serve with the 14th squadron. In the TNI-AU service they “replaced” the MiG-21F-13. Its in qoutes becuase the MiG-21F-13s were baking in the sun at that point. The F-5E/F replaced the CA-27 Mk.32s in 1980.
“Does anyone know the condition of Vietnamese MiG-21s?”
The planes are in good shape and currently use the R-60 and R-13.
“Is it being ugraded?”
It seems planned to give them the UPG upgrade with the help of Russia and India.
“I’m already looking forward to your book on 2,000 Vietnamese air-to-air kills versus the USA”
Ah 3,000 for no losses get it right goddammit….. :p
“cons: many components are American and probably would be best if the customer got along with both Britain and US in some cases. rumored to be expensive..”
They will sell things (Hawks, Scorpions, Saladins, Saracens, water hoses) to your violent regime knowing you will use them and then their media will whine and their politicians will ask you not to use them. It’s like a drug dealer complaining about his buyers using the drugs “You can buy the coke but please don’t use it”.
Oh but they will keep inviting you to military expos to try and get you to buy more and then whine once again and beg you not to actually use them. And of course they will market to your need for equipment to use for internal repression and then play stupid afterwards…example is saying the Scorpion is good for internal secuitry or the Hawk 200 is good for CAS…
And seeing as they don’t sell all that many types of planes they come up with in the first place (Hawks, helicopters and cargo planes no modern fighters)….
They might not put on sanctions but boy will they whine…
No offense…
“No A-7 there, mate…”
No it was one of those specials the website used to do. That special was on planes marked up with air forces they never flew in.
It was over a year ago (well over IIRC) and they had an A-7 with PAF markings. It has since long ago been taken down,
So maybe someone here saved the picture….
The Sheepo website, with all the picutes, had one up of a A-7 in PAF markings like a year ago I just forgot to save it.
What a stupid debate…
I have seen one in Manassas VA…
Did I see wrong but did that Mirage 2000B have an IRST?
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
God the RAAFs small planned fleet of F-35As would be no match for the TNI-AUs current massive fleet of Su-27SKs (2) and Su-30MKs (2). Even the TNI-AU B-26s and B-25Js, long out of service, are too much for the F/A-18A/B to handle. 😮
The RAAF desperately needs to start funding the F/B-22 to replace the F/A-18A/Bs and take on the “swarms” of Flankers and look into the B-2 to counter Indonesia’s massive current force of surface to air missiles  . We all know the Indonesians have a plan to invade and occupy Australia in the next 5 years 😮 .
With downgraded F-35As coming into service Carlo Copp must be happy he has more to write on and of course having a heart attack all at once…
Sorry to put my rant here…
But back to topic maybe it would be time for the RAAF to look at other types of planes (EF-2000, Rafale) if they will get an over weight not stealthy plane…at least as leverage
“10) Which aircraft will the Mirage-2000-5v’s replace if bought.”
If bought it appears like they would replace the older MiG-21s and MiG-23s.
“As far as I know the MiG-21-2000 upgrade has been bought by”
Add in Burma. The Israelis upgraded thier J-7Ms to the 2000 model with the M-2032, Python Mk.3, LITENING II LDP and GRIFFIN LGB.
“I don’t know why should we be discussing this BS all the time.. Why Pakistan? I don’t give a tiny little sh*t whether they can buy spares or not and don’t know why it’s such a big deal, anyway.. F-16A Block 15 with AIM-9, sheeesh, ain’t they space capable?”
That rant did make me laugh a bit…
Personally I find the Mirage 5ED deal of interest. Hey it’s a classic plane finding a new home. That’s more interesting then say the F/A-22A…
But posting on spares is not terribly interesting seeing as I had figured we had given them spares anyways in the last few years since we started to play nice again. Still that’s like hearing the USA is delivering spare parts to Korea. But then again someone finds it of interst so who i am to complain?
But this is a free forum…so if they cannot post on thier air force why should other people? If you don’t like what others are talking about make your own threads…
PS thier F-16A/B B-15s also use the R-550 Mk.2 and ATLIS which makes them nice to see once in awhile…
Does anyone have some more Afghan MiG-21s and Su-22Ms? Even the pictures of the wrecks would be nice…
“(I already listed the Israeli and Saudi Arabian F-15s, Troung.)”
I don’t think you included the fact the RSAF has 80 F-15C/D and 72 F-15S (F-15Es) and the IDF/AF has 25 F-15I (F-15E), 26 F-15C/D MSIP II, and 42 F-15A/B. They have more then you listed in other words.
“F-16s versus Mig-29s (without research, I would guess a blowout win by the Lawn Dart)”
No doubt. Hell all but 5 nations F-16s can fire the AIM-120 and of those 5, Egypt and Jordan could if the missiles were sold. Venezuala is supposedly looking into an upgrade and of course Indonesia and Pakistan are Indonesia and Pakistan. Peru, India and Malaysia are the only nations thus far which can make use of the R-77E on their MiG-29s.
“What about F-4 vs. MiG-23/27?”
Well the best MiG-23s around make use of the R-23/24 while the majority of the F-4D/E/Fs out their use the AIM-7F/M and of course two nations use the AIM-120 on their F-4E/Fs. I would have to give it up the Phantoms around the world compared with the Floggers.
